Ralph maybe a cheap SOB.... The salary does not come from "his" checkbook! He gets a check from the NFL in 2007 for approx, $170,000,000.00 DOLLARS to cover the teams salary and operating expenses, this does not include any revenue generated at the stadium! WTF!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently the NFL pays 5.4 billion a year to all 32 franchises which covers all of thier expenses, salaries....etc.

The only money the NFL would have would be from the TV contracts. Are you talking about the distribution of that revenue?

you are kidding me right? You guys sit here and talk about knowing this and knowing that and dont' know that the NFL Cap number (say 107 mill per team) is paid by the TV contracts?

BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAA! Not only that, they get additional monies for other stuff as well, like operating expenses etc.

Is it one of those really big checks, like when people win Publisher's Clearinghouse?

Mad need to get his photoshop skills going and get Ralph accepting one of those big checks from the commissioner.

Just find a picture of Tiger Woods and plant Ralph's head on it. Shouldn't be hard to find as Woods has received a few of them in recent months.

Funny how we still don't have any actual data in this thread.

well, I did some of the "googling" that the kids speak of, and I found this site - http://football.calsci.com/SalaryCap.html - seems relatively credible for the purposes of this discussion.

The TV deal covers players' salaries, but I don't know where alohabillsfan got the 170 million number from...I guess it all depends on the size of the revenue sharing check he gets and how much Ralph makes from the stadium, ticket prices, etc.

About 2/3 of the NFL's money comes from the TV deal. The players get about 2/3 of team revenue. So, more or less, the TV contract goes to pay the players....

The money from the TV contract is share and share alike - the Redskins, Cowboys, Bills, and Packers get identical checks. This money is key to the success of the smaller franchises. Without the TV contract money, there is simply no way on earth that Green Bay could ever field a competitive team.

P.S. If Ralph keeps saying small markets can't compete, we can't afford free agensy, blahblahblah... Then sell the name of the fraking stadium you egotistical, errogant crumudgeon~ It seems to me that a local business would scoop it up and then ofcourse come to the rescue when there are 3000 tiks remaining to broacast to all of the local area, hmmm.

That's not necessarily true. In '06 and '07 the cap is a fixed amount (which may actually be as you stated based on TV revenue) but after that it becomes a percentage of the total adjusted gross revenue, which is made up of much more than TV contracts as you stated at the end of your post.
