I agree and have been saying that for weeks. However, tonights events (Spacek hurt & Gausted lost for year) has made it even more imperative that Darcy makes some deals to help this team in the playoffs.

:shakeno: I think Paetsh is doing a great job on D he can fill in for Spacek until he comes back and I think we keep Paille up to take Gaustad's spot he had a nice hit tonight. Plus Lindy in his pc when asked if a roster move is needed he said no we still have 6 defenceman.

They would be stupid to stand pat after tonights events.

6 D-men is nice.

A team needs 7 for a playoff run.

Injuries happen.

Time for a couple of guys from Rochester to step up and play, or pull the trigger on a deal to get a solid vet for the blue line.

No... we still need him more than anything else in my opinion. We have some other expendable players if we want to go after somebody else.

How about Hecht or Kotalik? Would you put them on the block?

How about Sean Hill from the Islanders? 13-year vet, salary is $600K. Mentioned in News today:

let's not jump the gun here.let's see if other players can step up their games.remember the playoff run last year?we had numerous injuries and made it to Game 7 in the Finals.we don't want to rush spacek back.we need him for the playoffs.i feel that we can bring up somebody from Rochester and they can fill in nice for a temporary situation.

Im more concerned about the edgeness that those two players brought to the table. On defense spacek would at least check. As of now Mair is the only player who has anything close to any grit.

Who? the depth in Rochester for defensemen is pretty weak.

Funk, Card, Sekera are not ready, and now is not the time to gamble on young prospects.

This team needs some grit and standing pat would be a mistake.

According to WGRZ, Spacek does have a broken hand and is out for "weeks"

And we definitely don't have any tough guys either. :shakeno:

our top guys get roughed up all the time, because the Amerks don't have someone to protect them. We have no enforcer and no guy like Gaustad who is tough and could take the big hits and lay them out himself. :ill:

Go after Chris Simon...I think his salary is around 700K...He would be a great replacement for Gaustad....The Sabres are very limited in who they can get due to the salary cap.
