They talked aboot the trade deadline and said that Darcy (i.e. Sabres) basically want a Mike Grier type forward and a Jay McGee type d-man. The only name mentioned was WNY native, Aaron Miller

Git'er done Darcy

A. Miller isn't in anyway gonna solve any problems here, other than not scoring on his brother

Both those players are missed big time. Grier was always good in the playoffs and he was the tough guy that we needed. He was replaced by Gaustad with no problem, but now Gaustad is out for the rest of the year.... :ill:

McKee is also definitely missed. We need someone like him to stand near Ryan Miller and just block shots. Plus he was another tough guy too that played hard. If we could find another McKee, we'd be set.

McKee has missed over 30 games this year...nowhere worth what St. Louis is paying him.

Without any doubt, we need someone who can fill Gaustad's role.........Gary Roberts?

what's his injury?
lower back/body - last played Jan 13.

here are his season stats:
22 Games played
0 goals
0 assists
0 points
-9 +/-
12 PIM
Shots 19

Think St. Louis is getting their monies worth? (Not that we are with Spacek).

Then again....we can't talk. Spacek started out strong and hasn't done **** lately. Plus, we paid a ridiculous amount of money to Tim Connolly to sit on the bench all season.... :ill:

You cannot compare St. louis with Buffalo. We are a much better team than them and have alot more depth. Anyone (except Spacek) standing on the blue line is going to grab some assists here.

We don't need a trade! keep Paille up and he can take Gaustads spot. Paille was going to be up here on this team this year anyways. The Sabres just had to send him down to Rochester because there was no room for him on the roster it was between him and Novotny But now with Gaustad gone for the yr. we can keep Paille up, Paetsh can take Spacek's spot Lindy doesn't want to bench him because he wants him for the pp.

Roberts would be amazing but how much is he making?

What about Forsberg? Would we even consider him for our team for the playoffs? I know he wouldnt fit cap wise, but what if he did.

We can afford him because Gaustad goes on LTIR, his remaining prorated salary opens up on the cap. It's only about $300,000 but that along with the space available from Connolly, gives us enough to add Roberts at the deadline.....per HNIC

:shakeno: Forsberg won't come here he has to waive his no-trade clause in his contract, plus I don't want him he's injury prone, Roberts and Guerin don't fit with this team they're too old!

Guerin $2 million
Roberts $2.25 million

They'll cost depth too

Roberts can be had for a draft choice, Guerin would require pick and prospect

I was referring to the cap situation, but I just saw we have more room than was thought earlier this season ...

Not much. The 2.3 million in room does not count Timmy. When (or if) he comes back 2.2 of that goes bye-bye. So they are still right up against the cap.

Only a prorated portion of Connolly's deal counts

If they pick up anybody I'd want it to be someone who is an UFA after the season. I'd also like it to be someone tough with playoff/cup experience.
