After practice, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said that Maxim Afinogenov's injury required surgery and reiterated that 5-6 weeks is the bare minimum the winger would miss.

so no pre-playoff tuneup likely for max but this could actually help the team overall for the playoffs
he wont count against the salary cap while hes out so the team can use that space to add someone else
