Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the New England Patriots have placed their franchise tag on CB Asante Samuel. Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports Samuel's agent, Alonzo Shavers, said they do not look at the tag as a bad thing. He added it's a step towards working on a long-term deal. -

I hate the fact that they "promised" Nate no tag this year. That was a dumb mistake. If we didn't want to pay him, at least get something of value for him. This organization kills me.Comment

All because Marv blinked first. You can tell that he had no clue what to do when Nate started saying he was going to hold out. He really believed that Nate would hold out and then got desperate.Originally posted by Nighthawk
That promise just cost us A LOT. I bet we could have done a tag and trade with no problem this year. But nooo, Marv made the promise and now we lose Clements for nothing.
