While supplying players to the NHL team is the purpose of an American Hockey League team, the Amerks now don't have enough bodies for their own games.

The Sabres and Florida Panthers share the affiliation. While only 17 skaters and two goalies can dress for each game, each parent must supply at least 10 players and as many as 12.

On Sunday night the Amerks played with eight Buffalo-owned players and 11 from the Panthers. Because the Sabres were low on players, the Amerks dressed seven defensemen and 10 forwards. Jeremy Swanson played a few shifts at forward.

Under the terms of the affiliation agreement, the Sabres must find at least two more players before the Amerks play Wednesday at home against the San Antonio Rampage. Amerks president Steve Donner said Buffalo must bring in players if they fall below 10 for more than two games. There were only nine Buffalo players on the roster Friday and Saturday.

The Sabres have no other players under contract. Donner said that general manager Jody Gage will likely discuss replacements with the Sabres today.

The Panthers are willing to fill some gaps in the short term but can't raid the ECHL's Florida Everblades.

Hamilton has the same problem.

We share players with Edmonton and Montreal.

This is really insane. What the heck is an AHL team for if they don't give us a break when we need it ?

Totally stupid if Rochester insists on a trade during all these injuries.

its not really rochester's fault, thats the agreement that buffalo and florida made...... chances are they will have to raid an ECHL team like those listed, and said taht they wont, or they will sign PTO/ATO with players that are on teams that dont have NHL affiliations

Ouch, the Amerks just lost another one. Goalie Craig Anderson was just promoted to Florida to fill in for an injured Alex Auld. Well, the good news is that now the Sabres can see what Adam Dennis can do. :sigh:

it's partially the fault of the Buffalo organization. They chose to go cheap on the minor league team and share the affiliation with Florida to help fill the Amerks roster. They used to fill it by themselves and never had too much of a shortage of veteran bodies to call up. They chose to do the dual affiliation and put only the young rookies on the team instead. Look where it's got them. You know that the Sabres could use some vets, but they only send young, up and coming rookies to Rochester. This extra rule was slipped into the new agreement when the Amerks were thinking of pulling out. Just like the Sabres, the Amerks are a very good team and these injuries have decimated them. I know that the Amerks are only a minor league team, but they are also trying to win a championship too. :::

Another vet that the Sabres let go somewhere else. Basically, the fact that they got cheap with the minor league team is now coming back to bite them in the ass. They used to have vets in Rochester like Fitzpatrick and Jillson, and Chris Thorburn and Chris Taylor and now they just use it for rookies and split the roster with Florida. Well, don't you think that they could have used a more fuller roster now? They could have activated someone and not worried about tapping the roster dry.

Nice to see the Sabres turn their backs on Jody Gage and the Rochester Amerks. They just took another Rochester player.... Kaleta and again left Rochester out to dry by not replacing him. If we get any injuries, we won't even have enough ****ing players to play in the game.

I'm a Sabres fan and all, but what Darcy and Larry Quinn are doing is total bull****! Way to **** over the team that has been developing your guys and is responsible for the current team and depth that you got. :ill:

I agree, but it's also the duty of the Parent Club to supply the AHL team with replacements when they make callups. The Sabres haven't done that at all this year and broke an agreement that they made with the Amerks. I could see the affiliation ending after the season. Rochester is getting pissed off because they aren't getting any help from Buffalo at all. You know, just like the Sabres...they are the best team in the league and are also headed to the playoffs and going to try to win the Calder Cup. They need help from their parent club, even some ECHL players, but Buffalo continues to ignore the requests and the agreement. :::

Give the Sabres a couple of days to find guys.

They have had 5 injuries in 5 games.

I know, and that's why Jody Gage and the Amerks haven't gone public yet. They are probably working on getting some players here. They did just get us a backup goaltender tho, that helps.
