 wtf?

This guy has to have some sort of a disease or something. How is he not a HC.

The Bears are just being cheap because they don't want to give him a big raise. They figure having Lovie as HC means it is pretty much his defense anyway.

Of course they haven't signed Smith to an extension, and their players are probably a little pissed.

Devin

Buffalo would be ok to.

They should bring him in as an assistant head coach.

For one season, hell yeah that would be sweet.

It isn't Jerry Angelo's fault.

The Bears have been notorious for not ponying up to pay their coaches. They will pay average, but they don't like to pay top dollar.

The guy doing the negotiations with Smith and the coaching staff is team president Ted Phillips.

Actually, Angelo has done a great job acquiring talent there and they haven't extended him either. His current contract expires in 2008 and there have been no negotiations yet on a new deal.

One would think they would lock up both guys.

Fair enough, I forgot they have a GM AND a President. Well either way thats a shame.

Won't be Dallas.

Won't be Dallas or SD, because both teams run the 3-4 and Rivera is a Tampa 2 guy.

Yup. If he doesn't sit out the season, he's heading to a team that runs the cover 2.

I dunno.. this guys team came off a good season, he had plenty of interviews, and he can't get another job and gets canned by his own team? Something seems fishy about this... he must not be that good.

All the Bears fans I know, said that they want Rivera gone. They said he has an unwillingness to make adjustments when he should.

maybe they did. Maybe they said "we want to retain you." And he said "it will cost you this much" and they said "bye-bye"

With all his interviews, they probably viewed him as someone who didn't want to be there long term. With his contract up, they made the change now.

Plus, Lovie wanted to promote his buddy.
