Bills | Team could target cornerback in draft
Wed, 21 Feb 2007 10:57:39 -0800
Chris Brown, of <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/124">BuffaloBills.com, reports the Buffalo Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) could target a cornerback in the NFL Draft (http://www.kffl.com/link/159), according to NFL (http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl) Network draft expert Mike Mayock. The Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) own the 12th pick in the first round. Michigan CB Leon Hall (http://www.kffl.com/player/16176/nfl) and Arkansas CB Chris Houston (http://www.kffl.com/player/16206/nfl) could be considered as possibilities, according to Mayock. "I think on the defensive side, assuming they lose the corner (CB Nate Clements (http://www.kffl.com/player/167/nfl)), I think Leon Hall (http://www.kffl.com/player/16176/nfl) and Chris Houston (http://www.kffl.com/player/16206/nfl). Those kinds of players in the corner position will make a lot of sense for them."

I'd say he's crazy but he's the ONLY person I Know who called the Whitner picked last year correctly.. GOD, I hope he's wrong this time... also should be noted, he said LB and OL are two other spots we could target in round one.

Another knee jerk reaction to our losing Nate.

I may be the only person on this board, but I think McGee is talented enough to be a number one corner.. He struggled learning the cover two scheme, and got better at the end of the year.. near the end of 2005 he was playing better than Clements..

I can live with McGee and a modest FA signing, or even Youboty, as LONG as they get a mininum of two new good starters in teh front seven.

If you want the absolute worst info listen to NFL Network. They are the same one's that reported that Holcomb was definately going to be the starter.

Bills aren't re-signing their CB. Ahh, that means that they will draft a CB. I can use that logic all day.

You are, I hope

As for Houston, I wouldnt mind him in Round 3, but sure as hell not at 12.

Mayock did call the Whitner pick days before the draft.

Mayock's the smartest draft guy there is. He called Aaron Rodgers to Green Bay weeks before the 2005 draft, and everyone thought he was nuts. Last year he called Whitner, and his mock draft was basically dead-on. Mayock's an incredibly smart draft prognosticator, so don't dismiss him.

I still say no way. I won't cry if we take one in the 2nd or 3rd, but a) I don't like Revis or Hall enough to spend a #12 on, anc b) I want to see #12 spent on the defensive front 7

I thought corners were not important in the Tampa-2. At least that's the bs I've been reading around here. If they are not important why would they take one at #12 when they have another dozen of holes to fill. Please enlighten me again on the great Tampa-2. I've come to learn that defense doesn't need run stuffers because they don't "fit the system", and "corners are really not that important".

Mayock is the man. I am not a fan of this pick but really who knows.

I mean while we have bigger needs it wouldnt shock me to see Marv draft a big CB and have our entire secondary locked up for the next 4-6 years.

**** knows at this point.

Him and Kiper just want to control the outcome of the draft. I think they enjoy see players stock rise and fall simply becuase they think a player is good or bad. They may follow these players somewhat, but they love to alk just to hear themselves talk. I lose more respect for their opinions every single year.

Mayock has credibility with me based on calling the Whitner pick last year...if, or until, he 'misses' this year, you have to respect his opinion IMO.

I also think he called Ashton Youbouty a potential 1st round pick. It was either him or another commentator. I also think hes right that Cutler will be the best QB of that bunch.

Hes got good scouting skills.

That is a pretty funny thread looking back at it now.

I don't know about a CB with the first round pick. I rather have a DE, MLB (if not addressed in FA,) or even a WR if any of the one's at #12 could come in and be a legit #2 on Opening Day. I really think Hall is going to fall into the late first round unless he blows up the Combines and workouts.

I read the entire Mike Mayock article.. and what he said was very interesting ....LB,OL WAS ALSO AREAS HE THOUGHT WE COULD GO....

Here is the entire article....

http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4625

I would be happy with Timmons,Brown Or Willis in a bills uniform next season

he also mentioned Beason from Miami.. Beason could be one of those guys who just fits our scheme the best ,, Great athlete who can play all three lb positions... Very fast......If he has a good combine he could climb into rd 1 ....Would be good pickup in rd 2 or 3 right now

Thoughts ?

Mayock is just giving an opinion I don't agree with but is the best at breaking down film and ranking college talent. Was the guy who first reported Whitner would be the Bills pick, prior to last years Draft. Mayock may also be a bit biased at CB, since he was one for Boston College and the NY Giants.

I could watch Mayock for hours break down film. The best. I sure will be watching the NFL Network on draft day, instead of ESPN.
