the Dolphins just resigned Vonnie Holliday to a 4 year, 20 million dollar deal. He's going to make 7 million in his first season. Kelsay, who is five years younger, will get a deal for at least that much if not more.
So according to Marv's stated philosophy, if we are to resign Chris Kelsay, to a deal similar to Holliday's (he'll get at least that much) then we are going to use like 25% of our "available" salary cap room on resigning Chris ****ing Kelsay??
Forget about this team being a contender next year. Too many young players we already have to count on, and too many holes that still need to be filled. Guess it will be what, eight years running now without the playoffs.
HOMER ALERT: YES, the Sky is indeed falling.. I wonder why though.
* We haven't made the playoffs in seven years
* We have one (Yes, ONE) winning season in the past seven years
* We have won 10 games or more exactly.. umm ZERO times during that span
* We're 46-67 over the past 7 years.
* For those mathematically challenged, that's 21 games under .500
* Everybody makes fun of the Bengals of the 1990's. Guess what, we're barely any better. The Bengals won only 32.5% of the games that decade. We're at a ohhh so much better 39.1% clip.
But best of all.
* We finally develop a young QB, get a couple of nice young players around him, get into position with the third most cap room in the entire NFL-- and instead of making noise and showing the fans they're serious about contending, they let their two best FA's walk, and literally announce our "cash against cap" philosophy, in which I just explained we'd use almost a quarter of that cap space to resign a one-dimensional defensive end. If it aint Kelsay, it will be someone just like him.
This team is coming away with next to nothing in free agency, and for at least another 2+ years while we continue to draft away, it will result in yet more mediocre football. But let's raise ticket prices, regardless if its still the cheapest ticket in the NFL. I mean, I guess the drop in attendance the second half of last season was a prank or something to Wilson.
HOpe you fans who live here in Buffalo have or plan on getting season tickets, its the only way you'll be seeing them play this season once week four rolls around.
