Wow. This market is shrinking very rapidly. Another big-time payday.

The Detroit Lions (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/page/DET) put the franchise tag on defensive tackle Cory Redding (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396068), team president Matt Millen said Wednesday in Indianapolis at the NFL's scouting combine.

The move prevents Redding from becoming an unrestricted free agent next month.

Redding emerged as a dominant player for the Lions last year when defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/235240) was out of the lineup. Redding had 37 tackles, including eight sacks, in his fourth season with the team after being drafted in 2003.

It's been predicted that this is not going to be a banner year for free agents. With a lot of extra cap money floating around, teams are going to make an effort to re-sign the guys they value, unless they've adopted a "cash to cap" policy.

On a better note, it looks like Washington is not going to re-sign Derrick Dockery, who could be a strong candidate to shore up the interior of Buffalo's offensive line.

Millen makes another idiotic move. Way to franchise a guy who's a career backup until last year, has a career year, and is still only middle-of-the pack, talent wise. What a moron. How does Millen keep his job?

Redding had a good year but damn, what is it for DE's 7-8 mil?

I dont know man.

COurse this is kind of one of those years. Wait til you see what Kelsay ends up getting paid.

I think Kelsay will end up re-signing with Buffalo for a relatively modest contract.

Id be shocked if he did.

This is literally his one shot at a payday. With all the DE's getting tagged hed be an idiot to stay here.
