    Napoleon Harris?

    Chris Brown:
NAPOLEAN HARRIS TO HIT MARKET: It appears as though Minnesota MLB Napolean Harris is going to hit the free agent market. Vikings GM Rick Spielman indicated as much in a published report out of Minneapolis. Harris won't come any cheaper than London Fletcher on the open market, but I would imagine being younger and just entering his prime that he has a much greater chance of landing a five or six year deal. It will be interesting to see if he's pursued by Buffalo at all. ---

Well I say if he comes as cheap as London, we pick up him if we aren't looking to go through the draft route, which you never know, might be better, the less major needs we need going into the draft, the more liberal we can be with picking up skill positions like RB and WR in the earlier rounds. But the question is...now we know the the Viks had a bad ass run D, but was that anything to do with the LB's or the DT's? I say the big fatty boom boom DT's had a lot to do with that, and judging by Harris' stats, he had half the tackles of London, but he did have 3 INTs and 1 FF. The thing OBD has to figure out is if it's best to draft a LB or pick up one in the FA, or both. Best case scenario is both...if Spikes is a bust, we are down 2 LB spots. And i just don't feel comfortable with just handing over the job to Ellison.

    Thoughts?

I need to let this one marinate. My initial thought is "no".

        Re: Napoleon Harris?

I wouldnt mind him, we could do worse. I just think LB is an area that we have to be really strong at..

It comes down to what Marv is thinking for the draft. If he's thinking LB then of course we dont need him as we'd take Willis.

But personally, I still think Marv is going DL in round one; so maybe given the price difference between Harris and a couple of the biggest FA names (June, Thomas)- then Harris may not be a bad signing.

If he wants the same money as Fletcher, he's on crack. 80 tackles combined of the past 2 years. Yeah. Sounds like a real dominant force.

that was season he was traded to vikes.

2005: Played in 15 games, starting three, finishing the season with 24 tackles and one sack. Started three of the first four games and came off the bench in all of the final 12 games.

he has had solid years in past and isn't too old. is an upgrade to ellison. if he isn't that expensive, i don't think it would be bad. He was a force in Oakland

Note: He had it easy in Minn. He had a monster D-line in front of him, but again...def an upgrade and worth a shot if he comes cheap. Nice insurance policy if Spikes turns into TKBlow

                      Listen..Harris isn't the best...

But Im all for making any move at any position where the player going into the position is better than the player who is currently at the position.

To me, Harris is a better starter than Ellison, who still may need to start if Spikes "busts"...]

I'd like better than Harris but it's better than doing nothing about it all.

he'd be ok if he doesn't cost too much.

I think that's because he missed like 10 games this season.
