GIANTS INTERESTED IN WILLIS?: New York Giants GM Jerry Reese just spoke at the podium here at the combine and said they do have some trade offers out there when talking about the need to add a running back following Tiki Barber's retirement.
He later said, "There is Willis McGahee talk, but we are looking at everybody. If the right guy is out there, we'll address it."
Verrry interesting. Considering how well Willis has performed the times he has played at the Meadowlands against the Jets, perhaps his stock is higher in New York than it might be in some other NFL cities.

Well who would be his replacement? Is Thomas Jones even a FA? We need a good replacement. A-Train is a good backup, but I don't want him as the every down starter.

Brandon Jacobs for Willis, straight up. This guy is a punishing back. With him and A-train on the roster it would be awesome. Do you realize that Addai had 1,000 yards and never started a a game. A-train could start and than you send Jacobs in to polish them off.

I don't see the point in trading Willis for draft picks only to trade those picks to Chicago for TJ.

And I don't Brandon Jacobs is an everydown back. If he was the Giants wouldn't be looking for Tiki's replacement.

One more point. I never put any credibility into the idea that we would trade Willis. But when a GM from another team mentions that a player is available for a possible trade than there is definately more to this story.

Jones avg 4.1 ypc this past season along with a 75.6 ypg, and 6TD's

From 04-06 (his time with CHI and most time starting) he averaged 1100 yards per season, and 7TD's.

I dont see him as a huge improvement over what we have, plus he's in a contract year and will be looking to get payed. Id rather sign Rhodes for 3-4 years and keep our picks.

The only knock on Jacobs is that his running style makes him more vulnerable to big hits. But if he were to share some duties, like they have done in Indy and Pittsburgh, than he would be quite an addition.
