So Calvin Johnson ran a 4.31 40, and he's suddenly a lock.

Lynch ran a 4.52 instead of the expected 4.40 and he's a disappointment.

Chris Henry ran a 4.4 not 4.33. Wow he's so slow.

40 times mean nothing guys. A fraction of a second faster isn't going to make you a better player.

Consider this:

In the 1985 combine, a wide receiver ran a 4.7, very slow for receivers.
In the 1990 combine, a running back ran a terrible 4.71.

You may have heard of them. They're Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.

Don't get wrapped up into the 40 time hype.

The only part of the 40 I care about is how fast they explode off the line. Football speed and 40 speed are two very different things.

I agree that I wouldn't right a guy off for a bad combine workout. However, Calvin Johnson's time is sick considering his incredible size. You gotta give the guy some credit. He decided to do it at the last minute in borrowed shoes. Sorry but that's incredible.

Calvin Johnson was going top 5 with or without running the 40.

I think Rice actually ran a 4.65

It dosn't mean nothing but it isnt as important as everyone thinks it is.The combine is mainly for the players to show off their pure athletic ability ie 40, vertical, shuttle drill......

Marshawn Lynch's official time is a 4.46 40-yard dash. The 4.52 was an unofficial time.
