Bills working to retain Kiwi Thomas

Thomas, Shelton Update: Today's Buffalo News is reporting that the Bills are working on a deal to keep Kiwaukee Thomas in the fold. This becomes more important with the anticipated loss of Nate Clements in free agency. Thomas has said he desires to play in the south closer to his family, so he may wait to see what other offers he gets. The same article in the News echoes a report from WGR yesterday that the Bills have informed the agent for Daimon Shelton that they will not be offering him a new deal to return. Shelton has been a solid fullback but at 35 years old, he doesn't go with the team's youth movement.

I think that Kiwi did a good job for us last year, both as a nickel corner and special teamer. I was actually suprised how good of a tackler he is for being so small. Kinda reminds me of a poor man's Antoine Winfield.

I'm all for keeping him around.

Maybe instead of us working so hard on Greer, Anderson and Williams we could have put a little more work into this guy. I agree that he is a keeper.

We need this man back. He is a hell of a number three and might even be a good number two.

Bills were trying to sign up Kiwaukee Thomas before end of year but he has been saying he missed home for some time now. Nothing more the Bills can do other than be willing to move the tean to a state in the south. He will probably be back unless he gets a comparible offer from a team like Falcons, Panthers, Saints, etc.

You can't blame the Bills FO on this one if he leaves. Kiwi has been saying that he would likely consider less money just to move closer to home. So, even if we throw more money at him, we may not be able to keep him - which is too bad. He was a surprise last year and it would be great to be able to keep him...

Thomas does not have a first round grade, so I don't care if he goes.

I don't think there is a team in NFL history that has all first round grade guys.

I really hope the Bills retain Kiwaukee Thomas.

He's a Marlon Kerner clone, which is a good thing.

I don't know how well remembered Kerner is, but he was an excellent third cornerback from 1995 to 1997 for the Bills.

Kerner was favored to start at CB in 1998 (after Jeff Burris left via free agency) but then he suffered a career ending knee injury in the preseason.

Which was sad because Kerner would have been very good.

Thomas is a great depth CB. I want him on the roster in 2007.

Excellent news! I personally thought that he was the best coverage cornerback out there and did a great job tackling too. I would be comfortable with his as the number 1 or 2 and he can work with Youboty who would eventually take over.

Are you kidding me? Youboty has a first round grade!

I don't think you have to worry Tim Anderson.

The Bills signed him to a relatively cheap, one-year tender offer.

It looks like Anderson is only being retained in order to compete for a roster spot; and I don't think he'll make the cut.

No way he beats out Larry Tripplett, Kyle Williams, or John McCargo.

And I'm assuming the Bills will either draft or sign another DT via free agency.

My guess is, Anderson is gonna be the odd man out.
