Damn, I really didn't think we'd see all these cuts this year. I thought a ton of teams had money to spend under the cap. I guess not. Maybe there will be more good players available than I first thought.

Chargers released Keenan McCardell.
McCardell, 37, seemed to age all at once, but is only one year removed from a 917-yard season. He could probably get one more shot as a third receiver somewhere. If not, he finishes his career ninth all time in receptions and eighteenth in receiving yards. He's still an extreme longshot for the Hall of Fame.

Chargers extended exclusive rights tenders to nose tackle Ryon Bingham, receivers Greg Camarillo and Malcom Floyd, linebacker Marques Harris, tackle Cory Lekkerkerker, and defensive end Derreck Robinson.
All the players will be Chargers this offseason, at least until camp, then they'll have to make the team. Floyd, the biggest name here, should see his role increase this season following Keenan McCardell's release.

Chargers released LB Steve Foley.
This was just a procedural move. Foley's career ended when he suffered nerve damage after being shot by an off-duty police officer.

Chargers released Aaron Shea.
He didn't stay healthy in one season with San Diego. Brandon Manumaleuna will be Antonio Gates' backup again.

Shawne Merriman underwent a "routine" shoulder surgery after the season.
The Chargers called all nine of their post-season surgeries "clean ups." Here's a list of the rest of them: T Jeromey Clary (shoulder), S Bhawoh Jue (knee), S Marlon McCree (sinus debridement), T Roman Oben (knee), DE Derreck Robinson (foot), LB Matt Wilhelm (knee) and DT Jamal Williams (shoulder).

My point is if were willing to sign Edwards we might as well just re-sign Fletch because he is twice the LB.
