Saints released WR Joe Horn, although the team hopes to re-sign him.
This news was expected, but it's a new development that Horn and the Saints talked contract the last two days. One of the best free agent signings in NFL history and second all-time among Saints in yards and catches, Horn will probably look elsewhere to maximize his final payday. He can still be a quality role player.

Bring him in here, Marv! He would be an excellent receiver to complement Lee Evans.

Apparently it's a Jamal Lewis kind of thing. They cut him but hope to re-sign him.

At 34 he's no spring chicken but I'd take him here in a heart beat. James Lofton came here at about the same age and look at what a job he did for us!! Sign him up!!!!

What a classless move by the Saints.

This is like the Oilers trading Ryan Smyth. Talk about letting a heart-and-soul guy leave. Horn was a symbol of the rebuilding New Orleans. I know his production levels are down, but I'd love to get Horn.

What a classless move by the Saints.
Seriously. For a guy that stuck with them through thick and thin.

The Answer thinks we should sign Joe Horn ASAP - he is another wily veteran that would has enough left in the tank to produce opposite Lee Evans.

The Hurricane thinks you should stop writing in the third person.

Wasn't there a skit on Seinfeld like this? The Maestro I think.

The Saints have 160 million tied up in reggie, Deuce, and Brees. They just tagged Grant and extended thomas.

Horns 42 mil contract was a problem. While "Hollywood" was a big part of the team hes hardly what he once was. Often injured, and production WAAAAAAAY down the past 2 seasons...Horn is 35 years old.

Why on earth is this a bad move for the Saints?

Yes Horn is/was a big part of the Saints, but this honestly shouldnt surprise anyone. Horn stuck with the team through "thick and thin", right the millions he made likely helped.

Unfortunately there was just no room for him. The Saints have a group of good, young receivers and Bush. (out with the old, in with the new)

For all we know, Horn may have wanted to be released. He can still be a #1 for some teams or a very productive #2 for most.

Horn would be an ok #2, this move makes sense for the Saints. The Bills did it a few years back with a few guys that were a big part of thier team.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Saints released four-time Pro Bowl receiver Joe Horn on Thursday, saying Horn asked to be let go after the Saints asked him to take a pay cut.

"Joe really wanted to see where his value is around the league for his services," general manager Mickey Loomis said. "With as much as Joe has meant to the Saints and to New Orleans, we don't want to impede his desire to do so, and we have kept the door open for him to return to our team."

Everytime I see a decent WR get released, the first thing that always pops into my mind is.. "he'll end up in new england."

There is NO WAY with the cap room they have NE won't greatly improve their WR situation.

would be great to get him here but I would rather have Drew Bennett but I really want Kevin Curtis

Honestly, I don't know why Dallas doesn't sign him and then trade Oakland for Randy Moss. That way everyone will tune in to see what TO, Horn and Moss are going to do for the camera. Tell me, that Dallas games wouldn't sell out tomorrow and they wouldn't have like 5 monday night games. (j/k the locker room would probably implode if this really happened)
