    Plummer to Bucs

In a twist that could scuttle a proposed trade to Tampa Bay, Jake Plummer told friends he plans to retire from football rather than continue his NFL career in another city.

Under the terms being discussed, the Broncos would receive a middle-round draft choice, believed to be a fourth-rounder, in exchange for Plummer. The trade could be announced as early as Friday.

    As reported by Len Pasquarelli.

A marriage made in heaven....not. I hope they have more in mind than Jake the Flake, for their sake...
Good riddance Fairchild. Of course, the knowledge of your departure will only make TE more hateable than the typical Bills QB. Good luck, hope we don't mess you up like JP.

Wow, the guys on the radio didn't even mention the Bucs as a possibility.

I don't get it. He's going to be a backup in TB when he was going to be a backup in DEN? Unless he's bitter at DEN for the way it happened.

Whoa that was unexpected. Thought Houston would be the place for Plummer.

Why would Plummer go to a team where he would likely be backing up Chris Simms?

Maybe he thinks that Chris Simms will not stay healthy?

Maybe he's been promised a chance to compete for the job.
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

Rumor has it the Bucs were going to draft a QB.

That would have been smarter. Plummer and Simms are both major league chokers. I couldn't believe the Bucs gave Simms another contract. Now they want Plummer too ?

They might as well bring in Bledsoe to complete the loser trifecta.

I bet that's the case... either that, or Denver is trying to get Houston to raise their asking price.

                            Re: Plummer to Bucs

Plummer said he would rather retire than play for Tampa Bay.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                            It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
