PRO: Lewis’ speed and playmaking abilities were showcased in 2006 on both the defense and special teams units. He started the 2005 opener vs. Green Bay but an ankle injury early in the game ended his season. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, both on special teams and at linebacker, playing in 15 games (one start). He exhibited some playmaking ability with a sack, two interceptions and four pass defenses. The speedy linebacker started 23-of-27 games at Wisconsin after joining the Badgers as a junior, playing his first two seasons at SUNY-Morrisville.

What are the cons?

gr8slayer

From ESPN Insider

Grade: 62 | Key
Alert: I

Comment:
Lewis has excellent speed and range. He was very effective on special teams as a rookie. He is a decent space player who can play sideline to sideline. He is at his best running around blocks and making plays on the move. He has the speed to turn and run with tight ends and backs in man-to-man coverage. He could become an effective blitzer and contributor in nickel packages. But Lewis lacks ideal size and can be overpowered at the point of attack. His 2005 season basically was a wash because of injuries. He is a bit of a straight-line runner who is a little stiff in the hips. He has some trouble adjusting on the move and lacks ideal fluidity for coverage. He gets a little sloppy and takes some false steps avoiding blocks.

Sounds like a C2 LB to me.

Depth signings should be after the draft.

Mid to late draft = depth
post draft FA = depth
early march= starters

I am not sure why they would sign him to a 3 year contract extension and then release him 1 day after :) Maybe they thought he wasn't good so they changed their minds :bandwagon

if they see a guy who is underrated or fits their system.. who, at a minimum, will be a good depth player and a good special teams guy, and has the potential to be a starter.. then why not sign them as soon as you can to make sure someone else doesnt?

Instead of sueing them for damages caused by misinformation, I'll settle with them on the grounds that they fire Paul MaGwire (sp?) - I don't care if he used to be a Punter for the bills that guy is so annoying.
