    A-Train And Bills Talking Numbers

The Bills and free agent Anthony Thomas have discussed a new contract.
It may sound crazy, but Thomas, who averaged 3.5 yards-per-carry and had 22 catches in 2006, has a shot to be Buffalo's starting running back this season if Willis McGahee is traded and a tailback is drafted in April.
I'd say this is good news.

A-Train is a backup and nothing more.

We would never enter the 2007 season with Thomas as our starter, despite what the Bills would make you believe.

Just like Alex Van Pelt was going to be our starting QB in 2002, after Johnson and Flutie were gone. (Bledsoe was aquired a few weeks later).

If McGahee is traded, a vet yet to be aquired or high draft pick will start. Bet on it.

Thomas is all heart but his feet are stuck in mud. Too slow.

I think that it's hard to compare what TD did during a prior period of tmie (trading for Bledslow) just before the draft and saying that MArv and Co. would do the same.

Yes A-Train is getting slower, but he did pretty well against the Pats at home for us and filled in nicely against the Packers. I could easily see Buffalo keeping him and penciling him in as the starter and using a high draft pick on a RB. Thomas could start the season but we would expect to see what the Colts did with Addai this year. The most important thing is that we get a 3rd rounder for Willis or we are set back some.
Where else would you rather be than right here right now?

I agree, he will not start for us. Wllis must go!!!! lets get whatever we can for him, a third round pick at this point is ok.

I disagree.. in today's NFL a lot of teams use 1-2 punch.

I wouldnt surprised nor upset at all if we resigned THomas, got a RB early on draft day and used a combo simliar to NE and Indy last year.

Henry and Green are the only true #1 backs on the FA market, we dont sign either of them and I think that is our best option.

Whatever. If you can't run behind our left side, you suck. Thomas could be a 1,000-yard guy again. He's serviceable.

Travis Henry and the Bills should be talking numbers - Atrain is a mediorce back, has physical prowess, not a pass catcher either.

Crucial to make the right decision at running back with the impending departure of mcgahee - TH is the best available RB on the market.

With the emphasis that Marv is placing on obtaining players with high character on this team, do you think that he will bring back TH who has a fettish for young girls and was suspended for smoking dope last year? Yes TH was a favorite of mine, but it ain't gonna happen.

The quicker they get Thomas wrapped up, the sooner we can deal McGahee.

A-Train caught 22 passes, more than McGahee. That's pretty good for a backup RB. And I'm guessing you didn't see the winning drive in Houston where he caught four in a row (seven total in the game).

I'm glad to hear it. I like the A-Train, and think he'd work perfectly in tandem with a back selected in the draft...
Good riddance Fairchild. Of course, the knowledge of your departure will only make TE more hateable than the typical Bills QB. Good luck, hope we don't mess you up like JP.

I think this is a strong signing that seaks to lock up the BACKUP positon. I dont think this move would preclude us at all from taking a RB in the draft early.

Basically, it a one for one move. It doesnt fill McGahees slot if hes traded, it only keeps A-trains slot full.

I telling ya, Lynch or Bush.
