Not to worry about the whole McGahee deal

Looking at all of the teams in need of a RB this is how it shapes up now:

    Teams in need:

    Jets-No clear cut starter yet.
Ravens-Looking to resign Lewis, nothing yet (he is no spring chicken either).
Browns-No clear cut starter, Droughns sucks. (1st round draft pick possible).
Texans-Davis is a liability, need starter (draft possible, but don't bet on it).
Titans-No TH, no Brown, White untested. They will sign a big reserve.
Broncos-Thin at RB (need for a RB. Team always has more than 1 good RB).
Raiders-Jordan wants bonus or pink slip and he's injured. Possible need for RB.
Giants-Big need for a RB. No stud RB on the team now.
Lions-Is Jones a liability and has he been solid? May see a move here at RB.
Packers-Likely losing Green. No starter, big need at RB.
Falcons-Quiet candidate for RB. Dunn is little and getting old.
Bills-Need solid RB, not a stop gap RB.

12 Teams with a need at RB.

9 players available and worth mentioning counting FA, trades and the draft

Thomas Jones-Tough deal, has to find a trade partner.
Ahman Green-FA, easier to sign, not young, some injuries. Maybe the Lions.
Travis Henry-FA, easy to sign. Denver is likely.
Jaamal Lewis-FA, likely back with Ravens.
McGahee-Trade partner looking for a long term amswer needed.
    Dominic Rhodes-one-two back...Giants??
Adrian Peterson-Browns or Texans (draft), could want McGahee
    Marshawn Lynch-Maybe Texans, Maybe Bills...
    Michael Bush-Late first/early second..look for the Falcons. Petrino/TJ Duckett

IMO, the top teams with a need for Willis and I could see giving up a 3rd rounder are the Jets, Browns, Texans, Giants, Packers, Broncos.

We could have some bargaining power getting a few teams bidding. If the Browns grabbed Willis, they could use teh 3rd pick on Thomas or Calvin Johnson. If any of the teams ahead of us in the draft picked up a decent RB in FA or by trade, they could use their draft pick on a stud player at a different position of need. Texans could go after Quinn if they grabbed Willis.

This will be interesting and I'm afraid it won't be until shortly before the draft that we find out. Let's hope for the best.

If we trade him to the Jets to be with his buddy Vilma, I'll puke. I wouldn't mind shipping his ass off to Cleveland or Houston.

The Lions recently traded for Tatum Bell, scratch them off the list.

The Browns are sold on AP, cross them off.

Maurice Jones Drew was absolutely awesome last year, scratch the Jags.

Leon Washington ran better than McGahee last year, scratch the Jets.

Titans used an early second rounder on White I doubt they want a big name guy, eliminate them.

So yeah, there are still options, just not as many as you list.

Personally I'm shocked the Giants showed interest, I thought they were very high on Brandon Jacobs. And from watching him play a couple times, he's a beast.

I told you guys the Jets, 2 months ago, and you said "no way". Not looking so unrealistic now.

Re: Not to worry about the whole McGahee deal

At this point my bet is that we sign A-train as the vet and draft a rookie RB to split time and eventually replace him. There's really no sense in picking up any of the remaining FAs as there's no upside to them.

I never mentioned the Jags, White it untested and didn't show squat last year, Leon Washington who? How do you know the Browns are sold on AP? Lions are still in the mix. Plenty of suitors!

the giants clearly said that they want jacobs to be a 20 carry a game guy, but they want another back to compliment him.. mcgahee is not that guy.

Latest I saw of this is that NYG want Jacobs to be a 20 carry a game guy but if they could obtain someone like Willis that would change their viewpoint of Jacobs. Jacobs is topping out around 265. He's a big boy. He would have to slim down to carry the ball all game long and not just short yardage situations. The NYG's may make it seem that they are not so needy for a different RB so they don't have to offer so much.
