In a move that figures to have ramifications for several tailbacks who are available either in free agency or via trade, the Houston Texans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=hou) on Sunday evening reached a contract agreement in principle with Ahman Green (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4261).

he may have a season or two left but he won't do what he did in green bay.the Texans need to address the OL.

Yeah. I hope last year is the last time for a while we have to say that.

Looks like Green Bay will be joining the Willis sweepstake.

Wow! That's alot for an old guy...this might make it more unlikely that we'll trade McGahee - nobody is going to want to pay even more than the below for him:

Ahman Green will reportedly earn $8 million in 2007 and $12.5-$13 million in the first two years.

They overpaid. It's just too easy to find running backs cheaply to pay a veteran on the decline this much. While Green isn't particularly likely to be a Texan in 2009, this investment indicates he may not be sharing the ball in Houston as much as we thought.

They may go the free agency route to do that, especially if they're intent on using their first round pick on a DB, which they might do. I hear they're very interested in LaRon Landry, the S from LSU, if he's still on the board when they pick.
