View Full Version : McGahee Going to Ravens? TRADE RUMOR!

patmoran2006

I knew it. I truly think at this point its a matter of Baltimore redoing Willis' contract. At any rate, this is a done deal I think, and it's going to officially go down within the next 24 hours , if not this evening.

No idea for compensation.. Based on other trades this season' im going to say a third.

Too bad this ******* couldn't have a better attitude and be more grateful to the team that gave him a shot (and first round draft pick money when no one else would). I think we're really going to hate him, because I think he's going to tear it up in Baltimore.

Don't Panic

The only thing he's going to tear in Baltimore is his ACL... karma's a b*tch.

Baltimore's draft picks:

1. 29th
2. 61st
3. 92nd
4. no 4th
5. 156th
6. 188th
7. 220th

I'd take the 61st overall pick for McGahee. We aren't going to have him next season anyways, so let's get what we can.

That offense COMMITS to the run and they got a defense that will keep them in games all the time.

He'll run for at least 1400 yards if he stays healthy.. Minimum.

Latest update according to John Clayton

So much for Corey Dillon's retirement.

Dillon, who asked for and received his release from the New England Patriots last week, will visit the Buffalo Bills Thursday with hopes of landing a job. The running back has been in conversations with several teams during the last week. Buffalo is his first visit.

After finding out he would get only eight to 10 carries a game with the Patriots, Dillon wanted to be released and the team granted his request. His agents have since made contact with the Jets and Eagles along with other teams, but the Bills are the first team to show viable interest.

McGahee update: Talks between the Bills and Ravens continue to heat up for Buffalo halfback Willis McGahee. McGahee, who is entering the final year of his contract and wants out, has been on the trading block for the past few weeks and the Bills are trying their best to move him. Over the past two days, the Bills had visits from Dominic Rhodes and Chris Brown and they are going to look at Dillon on Thursday. If the Ravens are going to make a trade for McGahee, they will likely get it done soon.

Lewis exploring options: Sensing he may not have a job in Baltimore if the Ravens trade for McGahee or sign another back, Jamal Lewis arrived in Cleveland on Wednesday for a visit. Lewis knows Browns general manager Phil Savage, who worked for Baltimore as its college scouting director. Lewis has kept in contact with the Ravens and hopes to re-sign with them.

Ravens clearing cap space
Today

Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 4:45 PM ET | Link

RAVENS CLEARING CAP SPACE: The Ravens just cut veteran guard Edwin Mulitalo according to their website. Mulitalo had three years remaining on his contract. His release takes the guard's $2 million base salary off their books for the 2007 season, but his accelerated signing bonus might make it a wash. I'll have to check that. But it's also $2 million in base salary off the books for 2008 and 2009. Anyone want to speculate as to why they're clearing cap room?

So our Bills media guy speculates that the Ravens are clearing cap room for a speculated trade of McGahee to the Ravens?

Thats just not concrete enough to justify this thread title to me.

Im for the move assuming the pick is a decent one, and I think it will happen, but I dont think theres any breaking news here yet.

I've been on Ravens boards a lot today and they have all been saying the same thing about dropping Mulitalo and clearing cap space. Most of them are drooling at the thought of Willis in a purple jersey because "Rayray and Reed will keep him in line" and the Ravens will unlock his potential. I can't really disagree completely with this possibility, but who knows? :idunno:

And this is one reason why I never buy jerseys.

How can anyone miss Willis. The guy barely did anything, barely tried, never showed up in the offseason, told the world he was the greatest then looked like a POS afterwards, suggested Buffalo move to Toronto, fathered 3 illegitiamte children that we know about.

seriously how could anyone actually miss Willis. The only thing I will miss is the hope that he would live up to potential and be a force... he never came close, and I won't miss him even a smidgen.

In all honesty karma will plague Willis. He'll have a couple of good seasons, but in the end he'll never be there when you really need him, and he'll never carry a team when they need him. He just does not have the heart....

if we get a guy like brown, i would love to see michael bush.. he is like bettis but faster and a much better receiver.

i have been saying all along.. if he didnt break his leg, he would have got as high as lynch.. kiper said the same thing.

the guy is an absolute beast.

I can live with that. In the same breath, I think that Adrian Peterson is incredibly overrated, and I hope that Bills don't even get the chance to consider this guy. He's short winded and isn't break away type of player that we need. We need a guy that can hit the hole quick and turn the afterburners on once he finds green.

PFT wrote:
McGAHEE TO RAVENS TONIGHT OR TOMORROW?

A league source tells us that there's a good chance that the Buffalo Bill will trade running back Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday night or Thursday.

Per the source, there are a couple of other teams still in the hunt for McGahee. As of now, however, the Ravens are at the front of the pack.

Also, a reader tells us that there are reports on Sirius NFL Radio that such a trade would entail Baltimore sending a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Buffalo.

If the trade happens, Ravens likely will be signing McGahee to a long-term deal. Based on recent contracts, McGahee could get $20 million in guaranteed money. (Ray Lewis will be thrilled with that.)

Meanwhile, the Bills are looking for McGahee's eventual replacement. Chris Brown visited Buffalo on Wednesday, and Corey Dillon is up next.

And then to Denver in about 3-4 years after Baltimore is fed up with him, and Henry is due a massive signing bonus, and Denver knows who ever they plug in behind their line will be a success, so any running back is expendable there when picking up the roster bonus due to what ever back they've got isn't economically viable.

I have friends from Buffalo whp make the trip down here all the time just to see the scenery. As for revitalization, I second that as well. What Baltimore has done is a model for what Buffalo could and should do. None of this has anything to do with Willis though... just gives me one more reason to hate the Ravens. BTW, all day long I've been hearing from the Baltimorons (Ravens fans) about how great it would be to get Willis. I just smerk and say, "He's all yours!"
