Conklin finally gets turn in goal

The numbers, Ty Conklin insisted, don’t indicate much of anything about his season.

While his stats certainly aren’t attractive, the new Buffalo Sabres goalie deflects questions about what appears to be — at least on paper — a disappointing campaign.

“It really hasn’t been that bad of a season for me, to be honest with you,” the gracious netminder told reporters surrounding his HSBC Arena locker stall Thursday afternoon. “I felt like I played pretty well all season.”

Conklin will have a quality supporting cast for the first time this season when he makes what likely will be his Sabres debut tonight against the Minnesota Wild in HSBC Arena.
