Craig Nall believes Kelly Holcomb, Buffalo's backup quarterback, may retire.
Buffalo was expected to release Holcomb, but it hasn't happened yet. Nall seems likely to be J.P. Losman's backup next season.

Backup quarter backs are stupid to even think about retirement. Easiest job in Football.

Almost as scary as Holcomb seeing the field.

trust me I'm no Holcomb fan but I do think his experience and his game management make him a better option than Nall. Hell, JP has more NFL starts than Nall has NFL SNAPS.

I want Kelly Holcomb in the mix.

He did OK in 2005. The offense was productive with him at the helm.

He's a good backup. I hope he doesn't retire yet.

I don't mind having him around. he's always been a good backup caliber QB, just not a good starting caliber QB.

I did hear that he expects to level up this training camp, and that should garner him an extra 2000 hit points.

He's not retiring. Think he's gonna leave 1 mil. on the table ? If he gets cut and nobody picks him up the he's "retired".

Almost as scary as Holcomb seeing the field.

So you are saying that you would rather rely on Nall Ball than a proven vet like Holcomb?

Make no mistake about it - Losman goes down, this team is finished if Holcomb isn't our backup in 2007.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Kelly retired," Nall said. "Hopefully, I will be bumped up to No. 2."

If you know it all, you should know where to find the information.

Holcomb is a gamer dude - gave this team hope in 2005 after Losman struggled and you could argue that he was the better QB last preseason as well - althought The Answer is glad Losman ended up starting.

Believe what you like, but if we don't retain the wily vet and something happens to losman than the season is over.

Nall Ball - not THE ANSWER

It is very much an issue - quality backups aren't a dime a dozen in this league, scrubs are though.

Who else is out there on the market anyway?

Let's hope that Holcomb rethinks this and stays - if The Answer was Marv Levy, right now he'd be all over this situation persuading him to stay.

Two things.

1. Holcomb was the better QB last pre-season?!?!?!

2. Since when is he a quality back-up?? Having just over 10 wins in a career makes you a quality back-up?

Holcomb is a wily vet and has always performed well when given a chance to play. The Answer felt there was a legit QB controversy last summer but it was squashed immediately by the coaching staff.

Don't forget in 2005 Holcombmania was running wild dudes!!!! And the vet rallied the team after a 1-3 start by Losman.

KH will retire if he's going to get cut...that makes sense to me.

Answer: this team is screwed if JP goes down which is why I have said we need to bring in another guy who is good. However, you, I or anyone doesn't have crap for real information and Nall may be better than we think. He's had a year with the system and maybe he can play. If the people who actually have the info say Nall can do the work then so be it.

JP needs to stay healthy because Nall and Holcomb both suck. That's like asking if you want to die of cancer or heart disease. Either way it's gonna suck.

Time to look for a real backup.
