Found this on bb.com

Definitely makes me feel a little better than the Sirius interview did. Yeah he talks funny, doesn't sound like he's too bright, but seems like a good kid, very family and team oriented. Surprisingly he has a 3.0 GPA, which at Cal is impressive. Sure, he's has a lot of help, but the fact that he cares about his education and not just his NFL payday says something about him.

One great thing about Marv and co. is that if they take him, you can be sure they aren't overlooking any character issues or flaws, and that he's a pretty good kid. A lot of organizations don't give that nearly as much weight, and while it may bring them some more talent, I'm starting to believe that at some point, it will ALWAYS hurt a team in the long run.

this was a couple years ago though.. hopefully his stardom hasnt gone to his head, but he is the same as all the players in the draft in that regard.

Cal does give assistance. I can get into Cal for rugby next year. At cal all sports players must get tutored for i think one or two hours a day. But on a Bills note, i am pulling For Lynch.

he describes his running style as "funny".

because he likes to laugh when he is playing.. he said defenders will come up to him after they tackle him and say "did you just laugh when i tackled you?".

You must not have heard the Sirius interview yesterday! You ever watch the old Fat Albert cartoons and the guy with the big lips?

Honestly, for a RB, I'm not overly concerned about his book smarts or how he sounds - to me its about talent, character and football smarts, in that order. I think what the video did was help him out a little in the character department.

Losing Willis doesn't worry me. There are some decent draft prospects out there, and Lynch is one of them. Check out some highlights of Lynch from youtube:

2005 Highlights

Also, remember that Lynch is entering the draft after his Junior year, and I think the Bills' first 5 picks last year were all Juniors. If we continue that trend, the Bills could draft Lynch. Who knows? He could fall to 12 and the Bills draft him. I'd take him on my team.

Wow man, the videos were great. I admittedly don't follow a lot of college football, but after seeing those, and how versatile the kid is, I have no doubt the BIlls are drooling at the prospect of Lynch in Fairchild's offense - seems like a perfect situation. I hope he's there at 12.

yeah.. he showed great moves in the open field... he plows people over if needed... strong stiffarm.. break away speed.. and the thing he doesnt get enough credit for is his great hands.. the guy can catch.

can you imagine having a good screen passing game back in our offense again? we havent used that consistently since thurman thomas.

As a Cal fan, I've been watching Marshawn for three years. And believe me, he's the ultimate character guy.

Here are some things you have to understand about Lynch:

--Yeah, he talks funny and doesn't have a media-savvy speaking style. But that doesn't mean he's an idiot. When I went to Cal, I met a ton of students who sounded stupid, but were extremely intelligent.

--Marshawn is, in fact, very, very unassuming and media-shy, despite his golden grill. When ABC cameras glanced on him on the sidelines at the UCLA game last season, he quickly pointed to the offensive linemen and said, "Those are the real heroes. Without them, there's no me."

--Here the San Francisco Chronicle (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/09/02/SPGJDKUE9O1.DTL&hw=marshawn+lynch&sn=005&sc=502) explains Lynch's unassuming nature:

Marshawn Lynch doesn't want attention, so it is said. Would like to have a jersey with no surname, or maybe not even a number. Wants to come to the stadium, run a lot, and go home. You see the problem, then. You don't get to be Marshawn Lynch and be anonymous. Far from it. In fact, it will be shown today just how anonymous he doesn't want to be.
--From another article on Lynch (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/08/28/SPG7IEE00O28.DTL&hw=marshawn+lynch&sn=001&sc=1000):

He isn't comfortable talking about his talents. He doesn't enjoy press interviews, but is accommodating. He usually gives all the credit for his accomplishments to his teammates.

"He makes the O-line look good," center Marvin Philip said. "He's the offensive line's best friend. ... He's a very, very humble person."

"That's just him," said his grandfather, Leron Lynch. "That's the way he grew up. ... I don't understand him myself. I hope someday he gets out of it, talks and lets it hang out."

--Yet another article: (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/20/SPGSRKM2FU1.DTL&hw=marshawn+lynch&sn=009&sc=375)

Ask junior tailback Marshawn Lynch who the best back in the nation is, and he says his backup Justin Forsett.

Ask Lynch what third-stringer Marcus O'Keith would do in Cal's offense, and he says, "He'd put up the same numbers I do."

The Heisman hopeful is being exceptionally humble, but his comments might not be far from the truth.

--Also, Marshawn has "Mama's Boy" tattooed on his back (http://calgoldenbearfootball.blogspot.com/2006/08/oakland-tribune-lynch-is-cals-mamas.html):

There's no doubting how Marshawn Lynch feels about his mother. Just look at his broad, muscular back. Tattooed there, shoulder blade to shoulder blade, is the acknowledgment, "Mama's Boy." The biggest influence on Lynch the son isn't his becoming an All-America or Cal's first Heisman Trophy winner, or even his own new Web site. It's his mom, Delisa Lynch, the stabilizing force in his life. "She's his biggest fan, and he's her biggest fan," Cal coach Jeff Tedford said of this special relationship.

--In fact, Marshawn plans to buy a house for his mom in whatever city he's drafted in. As he said at the combine (http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=239&p=2&c=621083):

One of his coaches, upon seeing several mock drafts with Lynch going to Green Bay, told him to ‘get your hat, your gloves and your coat because it's cold up there.’ “But that's alright with me," said Lynch. A self-proclaimed momma's boy, Lynch said: "The first thing I'm going to do when I sign my contract is buy her a house, even if it's in Green Bay."

--And finally, Lynch can play a little quarterback (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/chronicle/archive/2007/03/07/SPG8OOGQLJ1.DTL&o=2).

(Edited to add: At his final Cal game, the Holiday Bowl vs. Texas A&M (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Recs2T_k4Uo), Lynch didn't wear his nametag on his back to draw attention away from himself. He did, however, take one snap as quarterback and scored a touchdown, as shown in the above-linked video.)

okaydo beat me to it. He just doesn't have great hands, Lynch has an arm too!

Cal put together a great site with the same videos on youtube plus videos of his highlights for the individual games. The vids are better quality too.

I also noticed that he switches hands carrying the ball when he switches the side of field he's running on. That's good fundamentals.

Well the draft order is:

1. Oakland (2-14) - has Jordan and Rhodes
2. Detroit (3-13) - Jones, Bell, and now Duckett
3. Cleveland (4-12) - probably goes with Peterson or Joe Thomas
4. Tampa Bay (4-12) - has Cadillac
5. Arizona (5-11) - has Edge
6. Washington (5-11) - has Portis
7. Minnesota (6-10) - has Taylor, but maybe will draft one
8. Houston (6-10) - has Williams and now Green, but still maybe
9. Miami (6-10) - has Ronnie Brown
10. Atlanta (7-9) - has Dunn and Norwood
11. San Francisco (7-9) - has Gore
12. Buffalo (7-9)

I'd say our chances are good, unless someone trades up ahead of us.

IF anything, it tells you that he loves to play. That is the type of player we want. I wouldn;t be unhappy if we draft him and then trade a second and a third to move back into the first to get Willis or Timmons.

I agree - if the draft were tomorrow, I think he definitely falls to us. Most of the mocks I've seen have him going to Green Bay at 16.

Yeah I haven't seen a single mock that has Lynch go before 12 at all.

I wonder why everyone thinks we're drafting Leon Hall, because we have "such a big need for CB after letting Clemens go". No one seems to remember that Marv and co had thought of this already last season and drafted all those DBs, with Youboty as his heir apparent. I say we don't go CB until maybe 4th round.

Good point. I think McGee could not have picked a better year to crap the bed. He seems like a smart guy. Hopefully last season was a wake up call for him and he works hard this offseason. I'm not worried about him stepping up. I'm not just saying this because he's gone, but I think Nate is one of the best, but not in the elite class of CBs. I'm more concerned with MLB.

It was written March 4th, before we traded Willis.

12. Buffalo: Marshawn Lynch (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/lynch_marshawn), RB, California -- Whether Willis McGahee gets traded or not, it is time for the Bills to get a new back. The Bills are using free agency to grab offensive linemen, and if they go with Lynch, McGahee could be traded on draft day. Buffalo does need defensive help after losing London Fletcher and Nate Clements in free agency, but it is probably too high in the draft to take Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis, so a trade, free agency and the rest of the draft will be used to solve those problems.
