Perreault Nets 500th Career Goal vs. Devils
It was 17 years ago this month when the greatest individual achievement in Sabres history occurred - Gilbert Perreault scoring the 500th goal of his Hall of Fame career against the New Jersey Devils at the Aud.

BUFFALO (March 9, 1986) - Mike Foligno was sitting in front of the television set in his home on the evening of March 8, 1986, when the phone rang. On the other end was Larry Playfair, who had been his Buffalo Sabres teammate until two months prior when Scotty Bowman had traded Playfair to Los Angeles.
"He said 'Be sure you assist on Bert's goal,'" Foligno recalled. "I told him 'I can't promise you anything, but I'll try.'"
"Bert" would be Gilbert Perreault, the original Sabre, the greatest Sabre. And the "goal" would be Perreault's milestone 500th, which he was one shy of when Playfair made his long-distance call....MORE... (http://www.empiresports.com/maiorana.shtml)
