Very interesting....Wonder if Marv is planning on using one of those 3rd rounders on Troy Smith??

I could see interest in Smith.. WHy not? He could be a backup in this league, #3 at worst.

I dont like nor want Ginn, I'd actually rather have Gonzalez.

THe interior linemen are real good (Rameriz and Kahlil) but I dont see us using an early pick on one, and they aint gonna be around past round two.

Totally agree about Ginn...I'm a avid Ohio St fan, and as I like Ginn, he doesn't really seem like he could make anything more than a roscoe parrish type player at WR in the league...yes he's got size but he's not a strong player at all. And besides straight ahead, he dosen't really have any other route running skills that are good enough for the NFL.

I loooove Gonzalez, he reminds me so much of a Don Beebe type of player that the Bills could get great value out of.

As far as Troy Smith, I'd be all for drafting him, but absolutly not until round 3. He could return huge dividends as a solid backup or possible replacement for JP (if he regresses signifigantly- which I dont think will be the case)

That would be a monumental waste considering hes an early day two guy at best.

I don't disagree at all....

However after watching Smith these past few years I believe he'll prove to be worth the late first day selection any team puts into him....regardless of what the experts say. Dude is a winner, plain and simple.

Please no one take me as a JP hater....I'm a big supporter and thing he'll be even better this year.

But Smith on this roster does intrique me quite a bit.

No real surprises - Front office has always loved Ohio State/Big 10 players - going back to the Donablow era.

We don't have the luxury to draft a 3rd QB.

We need to draft guys who are going to play.

We wouldn't be drafting him with the intention of starting - obviously Holcomb isn't going to be around forever and Nall Ball is still pretty much an unknown.

Back Up QB is definitely a priority if the front office makes another dumb mistake and cuts the wily vet Holcomb.

Troy Smith is a baller. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

So I'm thinking that Pat Willis, then Gonzalez, then a running back (Booker?), then Smith on the first day would be sweet.

What would be the point of drafting Smith just to have him sit on the bench all year?

1) Injury or regression to our starter
2) Potential badassedness
3) A true number 2 on the roster
4) Insurance against JP ****ting the bed or jumping the roost when his contract hits
5) If we don't draft a QB, we're looking at Holcomb and Nall as our backups
6) Trade bait neeeya

Haven't you heard? - Kevin Everret is the next Antonio Gates - he's just progressing very slowly.

I had hopes for him. This is the year he has to show something or he is done.

Give the guy a break, he's stuck behind Robert Royal and Brad Cieslak, how's he supposed to get playing time. He's going through the same thing Michael Turner is with Ladanian Tomlinson. I hope we slap him with the high tender next year to lock him in as a RFA, you know, in case something happens to Royal or Cieslak.

Jesus its been a long day of not doing anything at work. I'm outtie.
