If Marv were to "reach" at #12.......

...and draft someone other than Okoye/Willis/Lynch/Peterson/Hall/Branch or any of the other guys projected to be top 15 picks, who do you think that "reach" pick might be? They showed last year that they certainly have their own ranking system and could give two ****s about what Mel Kiper says is a value pick.

Who might Marv & Co. might have a hard on for outside the media's top-15 list?
    Let's hear some guesses.

    Here's mine: Paul Posluszny. http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/posluszny_paul

You very well may be right, he's got average timed speed at 4.67, but has great game speed. Have you seen him play? Not an elite cover guy, but not bad either.

I could be way off, but I could see our brain trust being absolutely enamored with his intangibles and rust belt, lunch pail persona.

        Anyway, you got a guess?

By the way.. This is a good thread.. Nobody thought we were taking Whitner last year so you never know.

I really dont see how it cant be between WIllis, Okoye and Lynch..

But for the spirit of your thread I will say two players

          1) OLB JOn Beason, Miami
          2) WR Robert Meacham, TENN

I really like Meacham a lot, but I dont think Marv was lying when he said he was happy with our WRs as a group (ewwwww) so as much as I wish I was wrong, I dont see us using a #1 on a WR no matter who it is.

how is Willis a reach at 12?

Atlanta and SF are both interested in him, and if we didnt take him there's no way he last past Carolina at 14.. That's a reach?

Now McCargo and Whitner, those are reaches.. Sometimes reaches work out though, we'll see (I'm in a better mood today and dont feel like blasting marvin)

Seems like a perfect match - not a reach.

Willis is the top ILB in the draft and linebacker is one of our most pressing needs.

Just because Marv reached last draft doesn't mean he is going to reach every draft. I've said all along that we were going to draft Marshawn Lynch and as of today my initial response remains the same. We take Lynch at #12 and then we trade up with our 2nd round pick and one of our 3rd rounders and grab Posluszny.

There will be way too much talent left on the board at 12 for the Bills to reach for anyone. Unless you go after a clear second rounder, I don't think the Bills will run into "reaching" this year. Ofcourse if they trade up and get less then what they pay, then maybe Marv will be accused of reaching for talent. The Bills have proven they will trade up, so it's possible they do that. However, Lynch is a good pick for them Peterson would be also, but not to trade up to get him even if it's just one spot, IMO.

I agree.. This is a deeper draft 10-20 than last year..

The problem with this draft value wise from 10-20 it is it litered with CBs and WRs, neither of which will be our priority, though WR should be

I don't know, I think a CB would be a good pick for the Bills, I think the CB's this year are that good. But I think DE or DT is where the Bills will spend their first pick. I think you can fix your running game later in the draft or when teams make their cuts. I'm not saying the Bills won't pick a RB, I just think your D line is your biggest weakness given the talent that will be on the board at 12. The Bills do have a lot of options, so it makes predicting tough.

I see Pos as a Zach Thomas type guy. He's not the dominant Ray Lewis/Merriman/pre-injury TKO type guy, but he'll give 100% on every play, make solid tackles and always be in the right spot. Therefore I think he'd be a HuGE reach at 12- if you're picking a LB that high, he better be dominant from day 1.
