Browns | Draft options

Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository, reporting for the Sporting News, reports the Cleveland Browns (http://www.kffl.com/team/13/nfl) have an enticing draft pick at No. 3 overall, and odds are even that they would trade down if an attractive offer comes along. The team regards Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas (http://www.kffl.com/player/13303/nfl) as the surest thing at the top of the draft, and they look at Oklahoma RB Adrian L. Peterson (http://www.kffl.com/player/15855/nfl) as a considerable injury risk.

I would not be suprised if the Bills had BOTH Peterson and Lynch at 12 and still took Lynch.

Being considered fragile is a huge liability.

Joe Thomas as the surest thing at the top of the draft? -> I think it's Calvin Johnson.

As for which back to pick at #12... I'd go for Peterson. At #3 overall it's a risky pick, -but at #12, -I think you have to chance it.

I dont see Clev not taking Peterson unless they decide on Quinn (if he's there)

or they get a cant refuse offer to move down.

If they pick at 3, its either Quinn or Peterson, I dont see anybody else they take.

I could see that happening.

A lot of people laughed at Bill Polian when he took Edgerrin James over Ricky Williams.

But we all know how that turned out.

Personally, I prefer Lynch's running style.

He has this rare combination of power and elusiveness that most runningbacks simply do not possess.

If you watch him cut or change direction, it's sick. But at the same time, he can also break tackles.

Oh, and catch.

He's a very complete player.

Based on what I've seen, I would probably lean toward Lynch as the better pro right now.

The Browns are just blowing smoke.

When are you guys gonna wake up?

IM not disagreeing with that, but I think I'd still take Peterson first.

But you could very well be right.. Look at my sig.. Im all about drafting Lynch.

They both look pretty great to me.

Honestly, I'd probably be elated if Marv selected either one at #12.

Here are two highlight videos side by side.

You can compare their running styles and be the judge.

Adrian Peterson

I trust our doctors to determine if Peterson's health is a huge risk. Marv did it before (thurman) and so did TD (Willis) . Just as long as we don't have Saban's haitian witch doctor make the decision.

If Lynch ran behind Oklahoma's line and Peterson behind Cal's...

Watching Adrians highlights sure makes a case for him. You may be right, we may need to just trust in our Doc's. If we really like him, we may need to move above ATL. I dont see them letting him fall past them.

Adrians competition was a bit questionable, Oregon, Baylor, Ok St. None were great by any means. Yet he plays USC and he gets only 82 yards. Lynch has some similar stories.

Its a tough call, but the injury risk question is a major factor for sure.

I think we will use our pick at 12 for Willis or Okoye, and take a Bush, Henry or Leonard a round or 2 later.

Looking at the order:

I look a Minn, ATL as teams that would seriously be looking at Peterson.

Moving to the 6 pick would require:

1600 points, your probably looking at our 1st and 2nd rounder.

I think Id rather stay at 12 and see who drops, If Peterson doesnt, so what take Lynch.

I like Peterson over Lynch, I think he has more top end speed, and played better in big games

I know the draft is always a crapshoot, but I see too many questions with both Lynch and Peterson to be viable 12th picks. I'd rather go with a "surer" thing on D, at LB or DT, and use a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a solid - if less spectacular - RB.

Next year's draft will be much deeper at RB where, if we still need help, we can probably find a better player.

That is a good point Jan, we started something last year on D and are really only a pick or two away from finishing it. Why not just finish up the D and then move on to offense?

how is any of this even possible.. because you guarenteed that there was no way AP could fall to buffalo.. is it still impossible? i mean you were sure he was going to cleveland. you might want to call you palm reader again because i think the cards are changing.

I do still think they take Adrian Peterson.. I said Brady Quinn is the one guy that could change Cleveland's mind, if they take Joe Thomas second (Lions)...

I think it will be mute cause for some reason I think Detriot will take Quinn, making it an easy decision for the Browns..

But even if Clev ended up with Quinn or even JaMarcus Russell somehow, it doesnt change the fact that I dont think there is any way in hell Peterson will be on the board at 12.

Tatonka.
I will say this though. the one big thing that could potentially make this year different than almost any other normal year, is there are so very few teams right now in the NFL in the market for a starting RB.

Cant see him getting past 8 even if I am wrong about Cleveland taking him....Houston would take him or trade down with someone who would.. but the thing is.. only buffalo and GB and TENN really need a starter.. wierd man.

Plus, hopefully houston has a hard on for landry and won't pass on him to trade down or take Peterson..

I will agree that Peterson has had a couple injuries to his legs, but last year he suffered an injury because he was just showing off. The shoulder injury was from stomething completely stupid.

If the Bills are on the clock and he is on the board, I would have to think they wouldn't pass on him.

I see the Bills passing on BOTH Peterson and Lynch if they are there. Marv knows that there will be some good RBs available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. So he will draft a guy like Okoye, Willis, or Hall at #12 if they are available and work on finishing the rebuilding of our defense.

Respectfully, I disagree.

A all-star RB beats a all-star DT any day of the week in my book. There will be good DT's later too. Mebane and Tank Tyler (my personal favorite) will be there in round 2 on. Same goes for LB with Siler, and CB with McCauley, Bennett, Scott.

The next LT means more than the next Sapp to this team, especially with no starting RB, and so much emphasis on DT last year...McCargo, Williams, Tripplett, Hargrove. No, Okoye may be the pick, but I dont see it if both or even either are there.

Mikey, if marv passes on peterson ill throw myself off the HSBC building.

Peterson is the best possible pick at 12.

Okoye, Willis , Lynch are all good solid picks at 12 i wouldn't complain with any of them.

Any corner at twelve is not worth the pick!!! I'd vomit if we draft a corner 1st round. Especially with our defensive scheme

Peterson falling to twelve would take a act of god, i would take my crayons and write a new chapter in the bible. Water to wine, parting the red sea, plagues, horsemen and junk, peterson falls to 12 would be spoken of in the same breath. I'd stop eating meat on friday, and would have faith in the church.

Now if Marv passes on this gift from heaven the world will stop rotating, cities would crumble, and kobra will succeed in world domination.:couch:

im mellow dramatic, but the bills passing on Peterson would really upset me :horror:
