Broncos | Team reportedly tried to acquire No. 2 pick in draft

Mike Klis, of the Denver Post, reports the Detroit Lions have held preliminary discussions with the Denver Broncos regarding the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft in the last month, league sources have confirmed. According to sources, the Lions asked for multiple draft picks that included the Broncos' No. 21 selection. The Broncos considered the asking price too high and trade discussions have stopped. The team, however, has been trying to deal their No. 21 overall pick.

maybe...but they could still get Rice, Jarrett, Meachem, Bowe and many others a lot later...i wonder they'd give up for our 1st round pick?

I can't see them making this move for CJ, mainly because it would be WAY premature. I'd say it's better than 50% right now that Oakland is taking Johnson #1 (and I'd say that's about the smartest thing they've could do)....

Of course it depends if they can trade Moss for Rodgers (a trade that makes no sense to me since i've seen/heard nothing that makes me think Rodgers willbe good (Kyle Boller all over again))

Anyway.... IF the Broncos DID makle this deal, and managed to Land CJ... i'd be TERRIFIED of that team.... Walker, Henry, Cutler, CJ WOW.... plus a very good D.

Most likely... they get their linemen and running backs with later picks, so not Peterson or Thomas. It it definitely isn't a QB. According to the chart, the #2 pick is worth 2600. Denver's #21 is worth 800, so it would take 2 more 1st rounders or a ton of other picks to get a deal done. That's probably why Denver balked.

That's Denver for you... always good at shuffling the deck and fielding a competitive team. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

I have a huge question about this proposed trade up! Denver is picking 21st, and traditionally, it is almost impossible to engineer such a massive move on draft day. They would literally have to morgage their draft this year and next year IMO! For this reason, I highly doubt the merits of this report. On the other hand, I could see the Broncos coming up to 10 -15 to get the DE they want....
