Pominville barges in to ritzy 30-goal club

ATLANTA — The list of 30-goal scorers is a catalog of NHL supremacy. There were 25 of them heading into Saturday’s schedule, and only three weren’t either an All-Star this year or an Olympian last year.
Two of the three outsiders were considered blue-chip prospects before they were drafted high in the first round.
Then there’s Jason Pominville, the most unlikely 30-goal scorer of them all.
No general manager wanted to give Pominville an NHL uniform at the start of last season. The Buffalo Sabres waived him. The other 29 clubs passed.
Yet there was Pominville with more goals than Joe Sakic, Jaromir Jagr or Mats Sundin.
