"I like his hands," said Buffalo coach Dick Jauron, whose team selects 12th and also needs a running back after trading Willis McGahee last week. "He can really catch the ball, so he'll be an every-down back for somebody. I like that."

One scout called him a pain in the arse

Marshawn Lynch*, RB, California:
5-11, 215. "He has great vision as opposed to Peterson, who uses his speed," one scout said. "The key on him is how fast he is." Gained 1,356 yards (6.1) in '06. "Good toughness, smooth runner, got hands out of the backfield, secure ball carrier, has the skills to be a kick returner," another scout said. "I don't worry about him on the field. It's off the field that I worry about." Nagged by injuries and behavioral questions. "I think he's just kind of a pain in the (expletive)," a third scout said. "Nothing real bad but you're just getting a different type of guy. You just have to know there's some things there."

Doesn't that bother you Pat? Do we want another "pain in the ass" running back? Like I've said, if we draft him, it means Marv and Dick think he checks out, and I'll be excited about him. But going solely on what I've read without the benefit of meeting the guy, I have a hard time getting as excited about him as I should be considering what his on-field skills could do for us.

Translation: We aren't interested in Lynch and believe in the RB by committee philosophy, A-Train is my starter, Chris Brown will back him up, and Suck Williams will get spot duty and be inserted during Shot Gun formations because my predecessor had so much success with that.

I would take Lynch over Peterson, right now. I just have too many reservations about Peterson's ability to stay on the field.
