Of all the teams in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills should take a long look at Buster Davis on draft day.

Why? Two words: London Fletcher.

The 5-foot-10, 240-pound Fletcher led the Bills in tackles for four seasons, including 157 in 2006 to go along with four interceptions and two defensive touchdowns.

And Davis is a Fletcher clone, having notched 109 tackles, eight tackles for losses, five sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and a safety for the underachieving Florida State Seminoles last season.

Fletcher is history now, as far as Buffalo is concerned, having bolted to Washington as a free agent. Still, he stayed around long enough to prove most emphatically that 5-10 is not too short for a linebacker to be successful.

Now, Davis stands ready to prove it again. He's a shade under 5-10 and five pounds lighter than Fletcher. But he shares the former Bills' star's reflexes and instincts.

157 Tackles in 2006 he can't be too slow.

Mis-read. 109 is still impressive considering they play less games.

I'm totally against the idea of Davis. Not because he's not good. He is. But here's the reason:

The entire reason the Bills say they let Fletcher walk is because they want to get bigger and more aggressive at MLB. I'm fine with that philosophy......I agree we need to.

So then, if the whole point of letting go of a 5-10, 240-pound guy who makes a ton of tackles is to replace him with someone bigger and more aggressive, why would we actually wind up replacing him with a 5-9, 235-pound guy who has virtually the exact same playing style?

:bf1: I'm tired of undersized LBs with inflated stats, time to move on.
