Willlis was drafted in 2003, and Gore was drafted in 2005....

That's why the draft is a crapshoot.

We also took an injured Willis, a few picks, before a healthy Larry Johnson.

and we already had travis henry, a back i would love to have on our team right now. hindsight IS always tough, but its just so much fun to see what could have been.

i think its the dolphins, bears and bucs that should be kicking themselves after all they spent top 5 picks on brown, benson and caddilac in that draft while gore was 3rd round.

nobody saw gore coming.

I drafted him as my third rb in like the 10th or 12th round in the fantasy draft. He just didn't get enough touches I guess...

Gore is already talking about a new contract. He wants to be the highest paid RB and he has Rosenahus as his agent.

He is definitely a good RB, but his "U" background might start causing trouble

we took willis mcgahee ugh.

That's all that needs to be said. Didn't like the pick then (ask anyone at the draft party) still don't like it, glad he is gone!

I guess the Bills weren't too afraid of McGahee's knee injury as opposed to a lot of other NFL teams' fear over Gore's knee injury. I would bet that Gore would've been a 1st rounder to a high 2nd at worst, if it wasn't for the knee injury.

And whats funnier is after dropping 100mil on thier secondary they wont be able to pay him.

I remember when they took McGahee. The name I really wanted was William Joseph, oh well.

If you really want to be sick to your stomach.

We drafted Willis McGahee. Four spots later another RB came off the board.

his name was Larry Johnson.

Plus with 2 rebuilt knees, he's one hit away from being out for a long time again. Let's see how many good years he can have after this first good one.

Gore started in front of mcgahee at the U and was a much better back than mcgahee was. he just always got injured. if he can stay healthy he's guna be an amazing back.

the 49ers are already discussing a new contract with gore, nothing finalised but they expect to get it done before the season starts

Even prior to this season its been long said the 49ers would likely be unable to hang onto gore.

It is believed agent Drew Rosenhaus is seeking a contract extension that will make Gore among the highest-paid players in the league - possibly even No.1.

But the 49ers, who have more than $15 million in salary cap room, are not likely to award Gore the kind of lucrative deal his agent is seeking. The problem for Gore is that the 49ers have the leverage and are not likely to break the bank for a player with a history of injuries.

So you're guaranteeing McGahee will fail in Baltimore?? Cause if he doesn't and has say 1400 yads 15 TD's and makes the probowl.....what will that say about the Bills? Will everything still be McGahee's fault??

if you think about it every player is one hit away from being out for a long time. maybe gore is slightly more suceptible to a bad injury but any player could go down with a bad hit.

It's not about the stats. The guy didn't want to be in Buffalo and it was obvious. He can have 2500 yards for all I care. It's not Buffalo's fault that things didn't work out.

49ers signed Frank Gore to a four-year contract extension through 2011. The deal includes a $6.5 million signing bonus, $14 million in guarantees, and a total value of $28 million.
Drew Rosenhaus works his magic again. Considering Gore has a history of injuries and wasn't a restricted free agent until next offseason, he did well to earn $18.212 million in the first three years of the deal and $14 million in guarantees. The structure of the deal is a rare one that actually makes it possible to be completed if Gore stays productive throughout. Gore will be well worth it if he just keeps up his pace from 2006.

the Larry Johson one is the one that gets me. The other ones were good finds by other teams- it happens to them and it happens to us (who knew Jason Peters would go from undrafted to one of the better tackles in the league?). But LJ played the same position and went only a few spots later in the exact same draft. Our scouting blew it on that one.

Don't forget that he followed PSU busts Kijana Carter and Curtis Enis.

Nah. He'll do good in Baltimore. When he is motivated and really wants to run he is a good RB. But for the Bills sake he hated Buffalo as a city and didn't want to be on the team. His friends in Baltimore will help him be motivated.

Was he the only guy who didn't/doesn't want to be in Buffalo?? It is Buffalos (RW) fault your team is what it is and why players want to leave.

Willis didn't want to be in Buffalo because he is a big city guy. He has already said that it was a big change going from Miami to Buffalo and he thrives on the fame. So be it.

Terrible shape?? Wow, someone needs a nap. Cause obviously you're not thinking clearly. You confused the Bills with the Dolphins.
