Sometimes you just have to wonder what teams are thinking. The Bills signed three offensive linemen (Dockery, tackle Langston Walker (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5939/) and guard Jason Whittle (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4637/)) who combined for zero Pro Bowls. All of them got contracts that were considered steep, even by this year's standards.
Meanwhile, top defenders such as cornerback Nate Clements (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5468/) and linebacker London Fletcher are gone. Starting running back Willis McGahee (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6359/) was traded for a couple of middling picks. Now, linebacker Takeo Spikes (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4278/) is reportedly on the trade block. That's a big pinch on impact players with really nothing in return.

So for all the excitement that has gone with the signing of a bunch of mediocre players to some exorbitant contracts (see: Buffalo Bills (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/buf/) guard Derrick Dockery (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6417/)), about the only thing to know is that free agency has just been expensive.

Hmmm, doesn't sound to me like everyone thinks the Dockery signing was that great, especially for the money. Like I said, for the amount of money the Bills paid for Dockery he better not miss a probowl from here out. Although I doubt he will ever see one.

I could care less if he makes the probowl. I'd rather have him play well in both run and pass situations. See Rubin Brown's final years in Buffalo as a reference for what I'm talking about. Heck London Fletcher never made the probowl as a Bill, why is the media so down on Buffalo for not overpaying for him? Probowl is a popularity contest. Just look at how many Patriots were on this year's probowl roster, starting with The Inseminator, himself. If Buffalo sends just Mooreman to the Probowl next year, but manages to make their mark in the playoffs, I'd be a far happier fan.

It's plain stupid to "grade the off-season". Dumb media filler until something important happens. I love the off-season with all the transactions and "reloading" for next year. But I grow tired of the crap.
