Yep, Spikes and Holcomb for Darwin Walker and a conditional 2008 draft pick. I don't really know what to think just yet.

I like the deal. We needed another DT and Walker is pretty good, not great, but better than Anderson. He helps our rotation. Getting rid of Holcomb was a plus.

I liked Spike too, but if we had to trade him, at least we got value for him.

I would take 36 takles and 6 sacks every year from a DT, as much as I hated to see ma fav bill TKO go we actully got a good trade..

Darwin Walker and a conditional draft pick for Spikes/Holcomb? Allright.

I'm not thrilled b/c I wanted Spikes to stay, but all things considered, I'm happier to get a solid veteran DT who can contribute right away than I would have been with a mid to late round draft pick. that would have been disappointing. Plus, it likely takes DT off our DT draft "need" list.

Here's something EVERYONE can get excited about: we're one step closer to seeing Tim Anderson try out for the Dolphins!!

He's good for 6 sacks if he plays the whole 16 game season

6 sacks ain't bad. We should have a good Dt rotation with Triplett, Walker, McCargo, Williams. I think Anderson is done.

Sounds good. We desperately needed help at DT. Now we need to draft a starting LB, and there's no excuse not to.

Devin

If Darwin Walker blows our DT group is whatever blows x 150 is.

Its an upgrade Ill take. Not to mention getting value for two players who are worth little now and nothing next season.....to us anyway.....yeah ill take it.

A DT good for 5-6 sacks a year.......say what did our entire rotation have last year?

I don't think DT is a huge liability now. Although it's not the best unit in the league, I think it's servicable and we have players that can fit the system. I just hope McCargo can come in next year and really contribute.

Darwin Walker isn't that good people....like wtf don't you understand about that? Id rather have Spikes coming off an injury than this Walker jerkoff coming off one.

At least Spikes WAS a pro-bowler.

Walker is a tier 3 bum whose glory days literally lasted two Sunday's last season.

LOL

This is a great deal by Buffalo.

1) We suddenly have great depth on the DL.
2) Get something for Spikes now while he has value. He'd be gone next year regardless
3) Spikes has hardly played the last 2 seasons so watching him go shouldn't be hard to do.
4) Holcomb-who?
5) Creates cap space. Wlker is signed through 2008 and his price the next 2 seasons is respectively 1.9 a year.
6) No need to look to the draft for a DT.
7) Achilles injuries are next to impossible to recover from.

Hopefully we get the winning end of this deal, but I honestly don't think that we could have come out of this better then we have.

I liked both Spikes, and Holcomb.

This is a solid trade as our rotation is now pretty solid, IMO.

Now Its RB, LB, and CB on day one of the draft.(I'd prefer RB in first, LB in second, and CB in third along with another LB with our other third.)

That's the key. While I'm still 50/50 on whether we should have traded Spikes, if we were going to do it this is a very good outcome. If we're going to create one hole, its good that we at least addressed another.

Hmmm, interesting. This will just about drop DT from Buffalo's needs list going into the draft. The draft has a number of great athletes in the draft at the OLB position. Not all are accomplished players from big time football programs, but it looks like Buffalo is positioning itself to take advantage of where the strength of the draft lies.

Walker is quick, active and experienced. He is somewhat versatile. He has played three-technique and nose tackle. He is at his best using his first-step quickness and hitting gaps. He reads quickly and gets good jumps on plays. He is tough to block when slanted into gaps. He can get sideways, make himself skinny and give linemen little surface to block. He can play laterally and has the quickness to get down the line and make plays. He uses his hands well to keep blockers off his lower body. He is a solid wrap-up tackler who strikes with force. But Walker is aging and coming off an injury-plagued 2005. He isn't a power player. He isn't physical at the point of attack and doesn't split double-team blocks effectively. He won't stack, shed and make tackles in the hole. He has lost some pass-rushing ability. He no longer gets on the edges quickly. He doesn't counter effectively when he gets tied up.

sad to see spikes go but it was for the best. i dont think he;ll ever return to be the same dominant OLB he was before the injury. best of luck to him and holcomb (who still sucks) next season and for the rest of their careers.

well now we cleared up some cap space and got a solid DT to throw into the rotation. everything about this trade makes sense to me. i dont think either side got the better of the other it was fairly even. all i can say is...

IN MARV WE TRUST

If Spikes never injured his achilles then I would never want to get rid of him but I never have seen anyone play at the same level after such an injury then they did beforehand. I wish TKO the best but he is a shadow of his former self and due to cash to cap his and Holcomb salary was too much. I wish #51 well...
