Since it's the intention of the Bills FO to use the term "Cash to Cap" when addressing cap issues, I have now added a "Cash to Cap" column to my cap page......go check it out :flowers:
As of 4/8/07, I have the Bills $19,998,399 under an "adjusted" salary cap of $112,134,000 million with $9,069,578 "dead cap".
I presently have the Bills "cash to cap" at $93,781,250 with $18,352750 "cash to cap" available

$18 million? Holy cow... that's a lot of loot to go unspent. KIind of kills the "Spikes was a financial decision" argument, doesn't it? There's no way we can spend to the cap with what's left. That's a bit disappointing... I understand cash to cap, but cash under cap? Hard to be competitive when that's the case. Too bad... a guy like Cato June would look good in a Bills uni right about now.

That's only an estimate......I suspect that the actual number is lower

I thought the "cash to cap" meant that they wouldn't amoratize the SB and take the hit all at once. Question I have is, do they only have the two options of taking the hit all at once or amoratizing it over the length of the contract? Or can they decide that they want to break it down differently?

It will go towards locking-up JP and Lee long-term.

Not to mention the injury replacement fund.

That's what I meant by "with what's left". Paying the rookies, space for an injury (or two)... that probably comes to $10 million (cash to cap). I'll withhold judgement until we get something conclusive, I just hope (from cash to cap stance) we aren't still $8 million under when its all said and done.

The signing bonus for the #12 overall pick will take a big bite

I was thinking $3 million for that... easily the biggest chunk of what's left. I guess it could be more, but everybody else we draft should have a low figure.

there is still room for a FA acquisition or 2. June cuts might bare hidden fruit, then there is the possibility of actually acquiring RB Turner from SD who would probably need a new contract before he ever plays a down for a new team.

Well, if we don't get our hands on Turner, it may be a good idea to re-up Evans while we have the room to do it.

Most people are adding up ALL the salaries....my numbers only take the 53 players that I believe would make the team right now.......

Cato June could've been had real cheap. He would've been a nice addition to our pathetic and depleted LB unit. He signed for like 4 million a year.
12 million for Chris Kelsay this year? That is crazy. Good job, Buffalo. 12 million this year for 12 career sacks.

The rookie cap will be no more than $5M. And teams keep an additional $1-2M for injuries.
As for Kelsay, that's a roster bonus and any bonuses he sees in the future will be MUCH smaller in comparison.

The Bills cannot be done with FA. If we are currently 20 million under the cap by NFL standards then the Bills have to spend another 6 million in real (NFL accounting) cap dollars just to be compliant with the new CBA. This might be why Marv is willing to go after Turner knowing that he is going to want a good sized contract. The Bills are in the strange position of having to spend money to get closer to the NFL cap figures. If we don't sign Turner who else would the Bills be willing to go after that is still left in FA.

People are not accounting for Bills swapping picks and moving up resulting in a higher cost under cash-to-cap rules. If they spent all of the money there would not be enough to pay players if they traded up.

Since we extended Schobel, how much do we have to work with for other extensions this year?(i.e. Losman and Evans)

Don't forget Nall is back with week to week veteran salary.
Or you could ask those who "know" and have been stating how much we are under cap. They must be insiderers, right?
