Mathematically speaking it's not a lock yet but we have 1 game in hand on everybody currently close to us. Ottawa plays a desperate Montreal & also the NJD, Pittsburgh so one figures they'll drop a few more games there. Pittsburgh also finishes with 4 tough games (toronto, ottawa, buffalo, rangers) and NJ looks tired. The Sabres also finish with philly / caps as our last 2 games.

Ottawa, Pissburgh, and NJ can only get 106 points if any or all of them run the table. We have 105 right now so if we win one game out of the next five we win the division and conference, am I right?

One of them could technically get 108 if they win straight out but like I said they play eachother so odds are there will be some losses mixed in there by them. If Buffalo wins friday and Ottawa loses, the division ours & we then have at least a 2nd place EC finish mathematically locked up for us. Like I said we play the Isles and have two crap teams to finish off with, easy as cake.

They said on the postgame show that the Sabres could actually clinch the Eastern Conference and their division on Friday.

Ottawa has 5 games left and if they win them all they have 108 points (98 + 10). That is also a big assumption that Buffalo earns no more than 4 points in their remaining games to lock it up mathematically (105 +4 = 109). (which is why this is a safe bet for us to win the EC).

4 points?

yes, any combination of a sabres gaining 2 points by win or 2 points from losses our opponents cannot regain in regular season schedule.

If we can't get 4 points with the games we have then we don't deserve it. We should have no problem.

yup, they just need to win 2 out of 6 games.

108/9 is the magic number,

108 w/ the most wins or 109 Period...

So Basically 2 More Wins Clinches the Division and Conference at 109 Pts, and 51 Wins (1 More Pt and Win than The people trying to catch us..

pitts road is alot harder schedule wise than ottawa / njd.

pitts road is alot harder schedule wise than ottawa / njd.Jersey I will give you. Ott. is a toss up

Jersey has 4 home games and 1 away game against opps. with a total of 364 point (easiest by far)

Ottawa has 2 home games and 3 away games against opps. with 442 points total

Pitt. has 2 Home and 3 away against opps. with 450 total points

But Jersey is playing the worst right now at 5-5 in their last 10 with Pitt. at 8-2 and Ottawa at 7-1-2.

I won't say Pitt. would catch Buffalo (not likely at all) but they could still pull out the division :idunno:

henceforth why I made this thread, the NJD's have the easiest schedule but are playing the worst right now and ottawa has a hard road but pitts is a little harder. One could easily figure at least one loss or more for all those teams and the Sabres to at least win 1 of their remaining games.

Pittsburgh has suprised me this year and it's great to see a talented team play.
