I think he measures up quite favorably. Williams and Taylor both had way more picks in their rookie seasons, and I think Taylor might be FS.

Polamalu is a beast, Williams is the ****tiest cover safety in the game, Taylor is another thug off the street, Huff has always been overrated (Lendale White Embarrassed Him 2 Many Times!) Whitner could be the 2nd best of them all.

It'll be shwon over time if Whitner is a great S or not.... he had a good rookie year, now let's see how he does with some experience.

I don't know that a players rookie season is the best judge of how good he is going to be. It is as much a factor of playing time as anything.

However, I would add the above guys to the list of recently drafted S who have done well in the league.

Ed Reed is the total package. Great cover skills and can hit like a truck. And look at his int's since his rookie year. Best safety in the game for my money.

I think Whitner will be a pretty damn good Safety as well as Simpson. And with these two guys having already played just about an entire season side by side, they could potentialy form one of the most formidable safety duos in the NFL within the next couple of years. But I am not saying that they will. What I am saying is that coming into their second year together, they will both be better than last year and that is a scarry thought for QBs.

Never said it did...but if you're going to compare players' stats, it's a difference that stuck out to me.
