One of the greatest coaches in the history of football passed today.. Eddie Robinson was the head coach of Grambling football for 55 seasons...

Robinson won 408 games ...over 200 of his players played in the NFL...He was hired in 1941 at the Age of 22.. It was really touching to hear stories today how he made sandwiches for his players because during segreation his team could not stop to eat at any resturants.. Robinson was a great role model for many young men who played football for him over the years....

He will truly be missed .. But his legacy will live on through the men he coached like Doug Williams, James Harris and Everson Walls.

College football and the NFL could really use more men like Eddie Robinson to lead the young men of today on and off the field..

Because of Eddie Robinson, many more African Americans have had an opportunity to coach football at many places, leagues, and levels throughout America.

But as great as his being a "trailblazer" has been for the sport, what's even more impressive and better (but, unfortunately not as well known), is the fact that he gave so many kids an opportunity to get a college education - and they did. Kids who played for him at Grambling came out better human beings than they went in.....and they almost always graduated.

Thank You, Eddie.

You will be missed, but never forgotten!
