Anyone got an example of a backup RB traded to a team that turned out pretty good? The last example of a backup RB traded in my memory is Lamar Gordon. I don't remember, but I think LaMont Jordan was traded for a draft pick too. I guess Thomas Jones and Chester Taylor are examples of backups (well, I'm not too sure of TJ's situation in Arizona. I don't know if he was out by the time Marcell Shipp was there) that turned out good when they switched teams.

Jones is an example, but he was considered a bust when Arizona traded him to Tampa. His value was so low they only got Marquis Walker, who wasn't even good enough to play in the NFL, in return. He went on to play pretty well for Tampa before signing as a FA with Chicago.

How about Curtis Martin? He wasn't traded, but he was signed as a RFA with the Jets surrendering the 1st and 3rd it took to get him.
Granted, Martin was a #1 back, unlike Turner, but both were RFA and highly thought of by other teams. The fact he was able to return a #1 and #3 and still live up to it says something.

He was signed as a FA.
Taylor was a FA.

So I guess the history of backups switching teams is a case by case basis.
