    ROFL Redskins Going After Samuel

The Redskins are expected to make a call to the Patriots about franchise player Asante Samuel.
Samuel apparently wants to be dealt with long-term contract talks having gone nowhere. Washington is open to moving the No. 6 overall pick, and New England owns two choices late in Round One, but D.C. would be an odd landing spot for Samuel with Shawn Springs still on the roster.
Is there anyone they don't go after?

yea there should just be a rule now that whenever a high-profile defender goes out on the market that washington has to become interested, no matter whether its a need or not. this is just getting rediculous washington, i used to have respect for you (cuz u occassionally beat philly)

        apparently both.

This is exactly why they never win. They fill their team up with aging overpriced vets who have big salaries and end up cutting them 3 years later because of the cap. But since they traded all their draft pics to get the vets in first place, they have no younger guys and have to replace them with... more overpriced vets.

umm, wouldn't Samuel be the opposite of that? He's only 26 and has been in the league for 4 years.

You know I have started to wonder whether the Skins do stuff like this just to stay in the news and keep their fans talking.... Kinda like the crazy stuff Britney and Paris do.

The thing is that since Snyder has taken over they have only made the playoffs once and have been pretty bad for most of that period........ But guess who leads the league in profit every year? The Skins.
New York, NY (August 31, 2006) – The Washington Redskins top Forbes’ NFL team valuations (p. 112) ranking for the seventh straight year. Owner Dan Snyder, whose savvy marketing has made his team the most valuable in sports, this year boasts a record-breaking operating income of $108.4 million, topping the New England Patriots (#2), who this year surpassed the Dallas Cowboys (#3) on the Forbes’ list.
              www.forbesinc.com/newsroom/releases/editorial/ForbesNFL091806.doc

He is making over twice as much as the second place team
              Skins-108.4 million
              NE-43.6 million
              Cowboys-37.1 million

yeah well at least they TRY to replace them with overpriced vets. We do nothing.

This is what I don't understand about your logic: In the last two years, we lost the 3 guys who were our starting LB's. Now, losing them can be justified: Fletch was on the wrong side of 30 and got big money, Spikes was hobbled by injuries and had been underperforming, and Posey didn't fit the new system.

Now, we have Crowell and Ellison- two guys we drafted and groomed- to fill two of those 3 spots. If we were to fill the 3rd one with Briggs, June, A. Thomas etc, it STILL wouldn't be what the Redskins do- we had 3 holes, we plugged two with draft picks and brought in an FA for the one we couldn't draft.

Now THAT's how it should be done. You build the core through the draft and fill in via FA. The Skins rely too heavily on FA's or big trades and we rely too heavily on the draft and back-ups. There's a happy medium and we're not finding it.

we do nothing? Like I said we don't know that. Maybe our coaches think that their replacements are already on the team but need just a little more experience that they couldn't get because Spikes or Fletcher was in their way of improving. Kinda like Posey's replacements were already on the team and they were right in letting him go.

I don't buy that because the coaches decide who plays. If we had someone on the bench better than Spikes and/or Fletcher that the coaches weren't playing, the coaches ****ed up.

I agree , the coaches decide who play that's why they got rid of Spikes so that Ellison, (who played better than Spikes) can continue to grow by playing now that Spikes is out of the way

since he hasn't been traded or signed to a long term deal, it seems that any reference to his price is pure speculation
