I believe you have to subscribe to the personal edition to get information on general aviation. The airline data is another story.

I use this one to track flights, which is excellent:

However, even if you know the N-Number of the plane you may not be able to track it. The owner can request the flights are exempt from being tracked.

If you know the airport and time the plane took off or departed you can use that site to see the airport activity and get the tail number that way, but it can be cumbersome.

You can also use the FAA website to look up N-Numbers:

http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_inquiry.asp

However, you need other information about the plane, such as serial number, region it is registered in or owner's name. I doubt Wilson's plane is registered in his name, because it is probably corporate.

That isn't the plane he used, if it is his. That plane is registered to some company in California, and hasn't been used since November.
