Is that guy still in Tennessee? Whatever happened to his "promising" career?

He was Matt Schaub before Matt Schaub was Matt Schaub.

No because Rob Johnson did not receive the national media praises as the second coming of Christ the Savior like Volek and Schaub did.

So Volek went from being the heir apparent to Steve McNair to the jockstrap holder of a much younger bluechipper.

Should've gone into FA when he had a chance. :laughter:

Should've gone into FA when he had a chance.

In hindsight, yes he shoud have.

There were two things that worked against Volek:

1) He got more of a chance to show himself than Schaub, and with increased playing time he didn't play as well as he did filling in initially.

2) The guy got hurt a lot, like every time he got a chance to play. His history of injury lowered his value.

Ultimately he was dealt to SD for a 2007 6th round pick (#206). He is in the last year of his contract and will be a FA next year. He will face a training camp battle from Charlie Whitehurst, who the Chargers view as the backup for Rivers for the next several years.

Yeah, that guy signed back with the Titans thinking he was going to get the job and then they drafted Young. He took the safe route and it blew up in his face. I don't think we will hear from him much again.
