So the Sabres got 2 PP goals officially last night, and really they had 3 because one goal came right as the PP was ending and the penalized player hadn't returned to the play yet.

I noticed something- the two defenders on the point were basically playing as close to the blue line as they could without clearing the zone. A few times, they actually had their bodies outside the blue line and were handling the puck inside the blue line.

This creates more space for the other team to cover when the puck is being passed around and more room for shooting/skating lanes- I think that has something to do with the increased success on the PP.

Either that or the Islanders just suck.

Any thoughts?

They are playing back because the penalty killers are coming out to the point farther than they would against most teams.

That's because Buffalo doesn't have a big guy in the slot.

I think it has a lot to do with #19 as well!
