I just spit water all over the place

In my hotel, flippin through and I saw Nate highlights on ESPN so I stopped to see what they were talkin about.

NFL Live talkin about the 49ers offseason acquisitions.

    Eric Allen said:

Nate is a guy who has "great instinct" and "knows how to play the ball"

he will "completely change their defense" and "dominate the NFC West" with his "versatility"

somebody asked him if they (49ers) can shut down QB's and offenses, and he said "of course they can they've got Nate Clements now"

This guy hasn't watched a down of Bills football. Ever. Apparently. He said more but my laughter drowned it out.

    Nate's a good corner, and I'm sure he'll help improve SF's defense. He's just not $80mil good.

I saw it too... Allen is an idiot. How does one CB change an entire defense? I wish we played them this year so Evans could hand him his jock when he was done with it.

hahaha yeah im watching the same thing. just more proof that so called nfl experts dont watch a down of Bills football. I always thought Nate was terribly overrated. shut down corner my a$$. ask chris chambers if hes a shut down corner and worth 80 mill. he had one good year in which he made the pro bowl as an alternate mainly because he jacked up his stats against the dolphins and had a few kick returns on one of the sickest ST unit in a while. he was not that good on run support and the fact that people even use the phrase "shut down corner" with him is comical...

another reason i quit watching this junk network a while ago: Trey Wingo, the master of contradiction. "any QB with a bad line is going to look bad!"

I guess that doesn't apply to JP?

I keep hearing Clements get trashed here. Granted, he was wildly overpaid, but the guy is a good player.

According to Fox Sports, "The Bills were third in the league in 2006 at stopping No. 1 wide receivers; they were below-average in stopping every other kind of receiver: No. 2 receivers, slot receivers, tight ends, running backs, H-Backs, tackle-eligibles, ends, flankers, rovers, the whole bunch."

Perhaps you are underestimating the effect of his loss on the secondary?

                        Nope, not at all.

I've said all along that I'm not sold on McGee or anybody else in the secondary, but watching Nate for 6 seasons - he is nowhere near as good as people paint him to be. Nowhere near $80 million. He was merely average on a progressively deteriorating defense. Winfield was better, IMO. He might bring a sense of "stability" to SF, but he's not going to put them over the top.

Yeah, and everyone knows if you can't succeed in Buffalo you can't succeed anywhere!

How do you not call him a shut down corner when we were third against other teams number 1's? He certainly had some bad games but let's not get silly JFree.
