    Falcons' Christian calls it quits

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (March 11, 2003 8:42 p.m. EST) - Fullback Bob Christian, whose season ended with a concussion in last December, has told the Atlanta Falcons he will retire.

Christian was removed from the active roster Feb. 21, the same day cornerback Ashley Ambrose, receiver Shawn Jefferson and defensive lineman Shane Dronett were released. But because he was on vacation at the time, the team did not announce the move.

Christian, a 12-year veteran, had two concussions last year. After getting knocked out in a Week Seven win over Carolina, Christian returned the next week and ran for an 8-yard touchdown in the Falcons' 37-35 victory at New Orleans.
