Dolphins fire former Saban-era assistant coach

No not Mike Mularchy - they fired running backs coach Bobby Williams on Friday.

The Dolphins said they would begin to search for a replacement immediately, but did not disclose why they fired Williams three months after new coach Cam Cameron took over for the departed Nick Saban.

Maybe they were disappointed in Ronnie Brown's development especially in key games last year.

I know they were interested in Denver's RB coach, Bobby Turner at one point. On the one side though, it was when they were thinking about having an OC outside of Cameron, so who knows if they'd give Turner a call.

They need to do something about Mularkey, just having him on the staff is good for 5-8 losses.

David Martin (from Green Bay) was a FA brought in this year. Other TE's on the roster:
            Justin Peele
            Jason Rader
            Tim Massaquoi
            Aaron Halterman

Speaking of David Martin the Florida Sun Sentinel had a really good piece on Martin and his family caring for his autistic son:

I wonder if there's a correlation between Ricky Williams' possible return and this?

It's possible that Bobby Williams made a stand that he won't coach Ricky......so the team made a proactive move and fired him.

If you think that's not a possibility you're out of touch with reality.

It's very, very rare to fire a coach at this point of the year. Either the guy did something unethical (or illegal) or there was a big disagreement over something regarding the RB position. Ronnie Brown's role in the offense......if/how to address the position in the draft....etc..

They obviously didn't just decide to fire the man because he made the coffee too strong.

Almost as good as the Wanny era.
