detroit could do some damage in this draft if that rumor is true.

that trade could propell them into a playoff spot. they would have soooo many picks to fill out their holes.

wow.

Shanahan is trying to get cutler his target for years to come. If this trade happens, I hope the raiders grab Calvin Johnson. :snicker:

I didn't know Shanahan was on the crack.

I simply don't believe that second report - I just can't see Shanahan being that stupid.

probly just a smoke screen... way to much to give up, in hopes that CJ is on the board...

They may give that much up on the clock if cj is on the board, but they would be stupid to pull the trigger now before the raiders pick. I have a feeling it may go down draft day.

No way this is true, no way.

However Calvin Johnson is almost that good.

The deal is contingent upon CJ being on the board at #2.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the case. There's no way they make that trade before the Raiders make their selection.

Kind of like the rumor that the Bills already have a trade in place with the Redskins, assuming Peterson is still on the board.

Detroit needs so much help they would be crazy not to do it. They could really turn the ship around with 5 day one picks this year and 2 first round picks next year.

According to most trade draft value charts:

The #2 overall pick is worth 2,600 points

The #21, #56 and #86 picks are worth 1,300 points

Next years 1st round pick would have to be a top 9 pick next year in order for the Lions to make out as far as getting more points and we all know that future picks are worth less then this years picks so it would basically have to be a top 5 pick and the Broncos are going to be a playoff contender next year so I don't see that happening.

So I don't see what the big thing about a guy needs to be fired when the trade doesn't help him. If I were the Lions I would try and do a Buc trade to get a 2nd rounder and grab Adams at #4. Just my opinion on it.

The draft value chart obviously revolutionized the way people look at the draft, and the cowboys made out like bandits with trades back when they were the only team to have a complete value chart. that said, what you just said shows me that the draft chart is flawed -- who in their right mind would rather have the #2 overall in any given year versus a 1, 2, 3, and a 1 next year?? take the four first day picks every time, man, even if the two 1's are midrounders.

I would take the #2 overall pick over those picks.

I would take the #2 overall pick over those picks.

Not me. I'd much rather have 6 shots to find a couple solid starters than just 1 shot to maybe catch a single great player.

Too many eggs in the proverbial single basket.

Especially if I'm a team like Detroit who could use as many Saturday picks as they can get. One player is not going to change the fortunes of that team.

Bill Brasky

wow why would they offer so many picks. how can that be of equal value. that seems absurd to offer, and even more assinine not to accept.

This is BS! How can the Broncos offer Wilson when they already cut him two weeks ago?

good so they can go grab AP like they dont have 50 freakin rb's in there roster, a lot of them being decent. w/e tho i hope they dont do it so i can laugh at the lions more

It would have to be... Denver should do this deal if they really think they're solid at every other position. If their FO can look at the roster and honestly say, "other than WR, we have no weaknesses," then you do the deal. I haven't looked in depth at their roster, but I highly doubt that is the case. However, this is a man who is aggressively going after a Super Bowl. Hard to fault him for that.

21 is too far down. It would not be a good trade for Detroit.
