I dont agree with many of the commentators. You dont sign Ahman Green or Jamal Lewis to nice contracts and then spend your 1st rounder on yet another RB. Its not like either team doesnt have alot of other needs, they do.

I think Atlanta and the Vikes are the two biggest possibilities to be honest. Especially the Vikes.

Chester Taylor is no stud, niether is Moore.

MarvLevy

I AGREE TAYLOR ISNT A STUD, BUT JEESH THE GUY HAD 1200+ YARDS AND 6 TDS IN 15 GAMES. PRETTY DECENT. AND THEY HAD NO QB!

Either Houston or Cleveland will look at Peterson. Besides Reggie Bush, he's the best RB prospect since LT. You don't pass up a RB again if you're Houston, and Savage and Romeo want to win now to save their jobs. Of course there's Minnesota and Atlanta in between that. AP falling isn't going to happen. That's like me wishing D'Brick would fall to Miami last year. Hah.

I think it takes a trade up.

But I just think the Bills had a plan when they moved McGahee. I dont see the FO making a move like that without thinking about who replaces him.

They then started the Turner talk, and may be talking about LJ.

No, the Bills care very much about the RB spot and they wont pass this up.

The big question is how good a player they think they need.

They have the fire power for a move up, that came from trading McGahee, maybe they had the added fire power to make a move when they traded him.

I would not at all be suprised to see us move up for AP. The Bills know what he might bring to the table. Run and stop the run, that was the mantra. But then you dont get an UPGRADE as the primary runner? That makes little sense.

MarvLevy
04-25-2007, 06:56 PM
IF WE GO INTO GAME 1 WITHOUT AP, TURNER OR LJ IT WOULD BE A DISAPPOINTMENT.
I WONT SETTLE FOR LYNCH, BUSH, PITTMAN OR ANYONE ELSE. WE NEED SOMEONE 2 STEP IN NOW AND THEY ARE THE ONLY 3 CAPABLE.

They will look, but will they take?

How does the Texans with no OL go and skip that and take yet another RB? Levi Brown will likely be there, so might Branch, so might Willis.

How does Cleveland skip Quinn? or Calvin Johnson? or even Russell? one of those guys is there. To take yet another RB? Thats another team that has no OL, Joe Thomas doesnt make more sense? Whos blocking for all those RB's?

I dont agree that it cant be Lynch. Ive watched him play plenty. He plays angry, he beats you at your weakness. Overpursue and he beats you. Stack the middle, he goes around the end.

Hes a Marshall Faulk type. Im not saying he will be as good, he could be, but hes versatile, nasty, and has vision like him.

Bush is a guy that is a faster version of Bettis. He doesnt have that build, hes more like Brandon Jacobs. But dont fool yourself, hes a much much better prospect than Jacobs. Hes a potential stud and worth a day one pick.

I know there's greater needs in other areas, but even though the chances of Miami picking him is ever so slight, Randy Mueller was the guy who drafted Deuce McAllister when he had Ricky Williams on the team. Who knows, he could draft AP, and trade away Ronnie Brown. Again, the chances of something like this are slim to none, but I think some very strange things may happen this weekend.

How does Oakland take Russell? Clearly Johnson is the most important player in the draft. How does Cleveland draft Quinn? Charlie Frye is a decent QB. How does Minnesota consider Quinn?

I can play this game too. We all see what we want to see. You can take off the blinders and realize that drafts are about value, RBs and QBs. If you got someone as talented at AP in front of you, you take him. I don't care if Levi Brown is there. I'd rather have AP and Justin Blalock than Levi Brown and Kenny Irons.

personally i think Calvin Johnson is being hyped up a bit. He might be a great player but where was all this hype 2-3 weeks ago? You can double team his ass all day but you cant doub a QB or RB.

Um Cleveland signed Jamal Lewis to a ONE YEAR DEAL and then traded away Reuben Droughns who had 4 years left on his deal.

Their backups are Jerome Harrison and Jason Wright.

Do the math.

Mr. Pink
04-25-2007, 07:37 PM
The fact that AP would be a long term solution to the RB position in Cleveland, considering they have NO long term solution in the backfield right now.

Lewis was signed for 1 year and Droughns traded, while under a multi-year contract, to play caddy and show AP the ropes for a year.

it's not hard to figure that one out.

Mr. Pink

No, no attitude. It was stated that Jamal Lewis was given a nice contract, so that's why Cleveland won't draft him...which is untrue.

Then you asked what math, which you've not subsequently deleted that post, so I broke it down in simple English of why Cleveland is going to draft him.

Cleveland has two young QBs already on their roster...one being Charlie Frye...the other Derek Anderson...them drafting another QB this high makes no sense. They like both Frye and Anderson and one would have to be cut in order to put Quinn or JMarc on the roster. You always need a veteran clipboard holder on a team for knowledge and expertise. They have that with Ken Dorsey.

It's hard to know for certain what Cleveland's thoughts on the subject are. You can certainly make a case for Cleveland drafting Peterson, but you can also make the case that Lewis tides them over until the 2008 draft which may be the best running back draft in years.

Considering it takes longer to develop QB's then RB's, and the likelihood that Cleveland won't be very good again this year, I think it'd be smarter to grab a franchise QB like Quinn this year, and grab your franchise RB next year. So I don't think it's unrealistic at all for Quinn to end up being the Cleveland pick.

Granted, this could just be wishful thinking on my part since I really want Peterson to fall.

At Thursday night now, it still looks like it would take a move to 6 to get AP.

The Vikes and ATL are likely landing spots.

Even if the Falcs move up for CJ, Detroit ends up at 8 and would probably take AP.
